n/a exhaust temp gasket maker ok?

Im attempting to seal my exhaust leak by putting in a new exhaust down pipe gasket, but that hasnt worked yet. So I went and got permanex gasket maker ultra copper. It says it can go 700 F.

What is the exhaust temp at WOT on a NA? Thanks.

I think it can reach temperatures up to 1400 to 1600 degrees F at WOT. From what I understand it gets hot enough to melt the fiberglass packing in a standard glasspack muffler.

you can always use a normal exhaust gasket made of metal. I tried the ultra copper, and 5 mins of WOT it burnt off, You can actually smell it. After that I had the exhaust leak again.
Go to a muffler shop, Im sure they sell exhaust gasket to customers. Make sure you know what size the diameter of your pipes are.

Are you using the stock exhaust, or aftermarket?

Check out www.racingbeat.com and www.mazdatrix.com

They both sell quality gaskets, and other parts.

So what kind of exhaust do you have? If the flange is bent, then there is no fix other than a new downpipe, or whatever the flange is bent on. I had a bonex mid-pipe that this happened to. The flange was actually warped, so there was a persistant exhaust leak. Even with the good RB gaskets and 750 degree gasket sealant, it was still vaporized in quick fashion.
If your flanges are good, then I recommend the RB or mazdatrix gaskets, as they are good quality. They don't carry the damn things in parts stores any more, apparently, as I was just looking for them.

I've never found any sealant that will work on the exhaust. The stuff always just burns off or turns to powder.
