N/A Drifting

Ok so i sold my old 88 street car awhile back and bought a shitty s13 and learned how to drift and banged it up worse than it allready was, and now i want to get serious. I want to put my 2 loves together rotary power and drifting.

I just bought a 88 base model for a few hundred, but im also looking at getting a T2 soon(that i will go all out on with tien coilovers a kit, rims and ****) so...

What do you suggest i do to the n/a rx7 to drift it (what did you do?)

Ive allready figured an LSD and suspension but what do you reccomend for the price?

I was kinda thinking Ground Control Coilovers on Tokiko Illumina Blue Struts, Camber/Caster Plates, rear camber kit, racing beat sway bars, and a welded diff. also some hawk brake pads on all 4 corners, good start?

any comments?

if you don't care which you have (t2 or na), and you already have an na keep it. practice skill and tuning instead of solving the problem with power. if you just want the power to help you break traction. you will just be trying to compensate for your lack of skill. i would just pull a 2way diff from a wrecked t2. even a s4 gxl's diff. they sill have a 1.5, and thats better than nothing. don't weld the diff shut. oh and the best thing you can do is lighten the car as much as possible. makes it faster in every way.

Yeah i know you can drift it stock but why dont you go out and do it, suspension, lsd and brakes help out tremendously, also when i get my t2 i will still keep this car and drift it or set it up for a road track.

i have. i have a na with full racing beat exhaust. i was doing it without a functioning 6th port actuator, and my secondary fuel rail injectors were working under 50%. so you can. i didnt have problem breaking traction at all unless i was in 3rd gear.

If you have to ask, you probably have no firsthand experience between drifting a stock FC and a lightly modded FC.

It makes sense to start with the former, and naturally progress to the latter when your skills improve, and you know what you're adjusting/dealing with.

I was thinking about doin the ground controle with good struts and camber plates. That right there is close to $1k. I found a place that sells ksport coilovers for $800 shipped. All of my friends that have had them love them!

poweredbymax.net

they sell coilovers for our cars now!

only heard good things about them in the 240sx community. 10/8 kg spring rates too.

strut/spring combo is more for auto-x and grip.

i miss my 240. rx7 is a totally different car. drives like its on rails... s13 was so flickable. you'll probably want to get the rear wheel steering eliminators. i'm thinking about getting the corksport ones.

Get DTSS Eliminators. Best 40$ you'll spend. I've been meaning too, but ask any one on the forum who drifts.

Then just practice and figure out what you need from there. Oh yeah stay safe and keep it off the streets.
