N/A 6-port porting for turbo

So, I am planning on pulling my motor apart and porting it / new seals, etc.

My question is. Because I have a 6 port, and I have seen that the 5/6 ports on the N/A are seperated by metal, from the main port. Can I cut / dremel them together, removing the metal between, and be fine?

Are their any porting templates for porting an N/A to turbo ports?

Any info would be great! Thanks.

I wouldn't do that. You'll lose too much low end velocity. Keep in mind that if you don't make as much low end power off boost, that also means you don't have as much energy available to get the turbo spinning up. It'll increase lag and when off boost hurt power. Don't over think porting 6 port motors like most people do. Enlarge the primaries by opening them earlier and closing them later, open the secondaries slightly earlier, and smooth out the runner walls. Don't even think about bridging it. Keep it simple. That motor has plenty of port timing so it'll respond just fine to a turbo even with no porting. On the exhaust side get ahold of some TII housings and just follow the standard Racing Beat street port exhaust profile. That would be a very nice driving engine and it would be pretty quick and responsive too.

It's funny, but rotarygod just described exactly how my next 6 port turbo engine will be built. Though I am going to extend the aux ports just a wee bit as well and widen, but not change the timing on the exhaust ports.

Keep the aux ports functional. This will require a custom manifold for the turbo.

Aaron, I'm curious why you don't want to change the exhaust port timing at all? Why not just use the street port exhaust template? I'm not criticizing of course. I've had stock sized exhaust ports with constant area sleeves in my motors before using smaller runners and they've worked great. Just curious that's all.

The engine is for my Cosmo, so I'm planning to maximize torque. I don't want to cut down into the combustion stroke, nor do I want to create more overlap. My theory on the widening is simply to minimize pumping losses while hopefully not effecting velocity too much. The turbo will be a little GT30R.

I was thinking about keep aux. But, I plan on putting the T2 LIM and UIM on. Would this yield less power? Does anyone sell a nice N/A adapter for the throttle body?

I also liked the ability to run from the turbo on the left side (looking at engine from front) through a FMIC (tucked back and hidden, love stock look) and then up and through where the battery is, into the intake.

First thing is first for me, I'll be getting MegaSquirt in about a month.

Any suggestions on what to replace while in the engine? Specific seals? Engine was previously rebuilt about..... 60k or so ago.

Port the TII lim to match the tii block. Took me 5 hours. But I might sell it if I can't find some money.

I'll be porting mine, I'll consider yours if price is right, just send me a PM if you plan on doing it. Maybe include some pictures.

Thanks!

If you want to keep the aux ports, you will need to use the NA lower and thus the NA upper (unless you make an adapter to connect the TII upper to the NA lower...I'm doing this on my next 6 port turbo build).
