The one b/t the oil injectors is for the fuel injector bleeds. It supplies fresh filtered air from the back of the throttle body. DO NOT CONNECT A SOURCE OF VACCUM to this nipple. The suction comes FROM the nipple.
I'm lost on the LITTLE METAL DEAL. It might be part of the cold start system. Just a guess. I need a picture or try to describe it in a different manner. You did good on the first description, but its not making a connection in my head. Is one of the 2lines larger than the other/????

Its a piece thats not needed. Was part of a cold start system(cold start as zero degrees). I believe it injected fluid in the intake when the temp was reaaaaaaaal cold. Take the thing off and block the holes with JBWELD or make a simple blockoff plate with some rtv under it. SEe page 4B-90 of the 87fsm for a description of how and what it was/is. Called SUBZERO STARTING SYSTEM. Outlawed in the Western world. Its the only item I condone being taken off a engine. Should be able to cope with the rest of the items being left in place. But then again, its our cars and we'll do darn well what we want with our property.
