My Yellow Fogs

I wanted a pair of Infini fogs, but couldnt find any, so after getting desperate, i just painted them with Tamaya Clear Yellow model paint. They work great! Especially when it comes to crappy weather. Let me know what you think.

I just got some amber bulbs from ebay for mine, although I've decided to go a different route now. That bottle has a flame on it, which means flammable correct? I wonder if theres a chance of that burning off the lens because of heat? Guess you'll find out if it does.

The solvents mixed inside the paint are the explosive part, once the paint dries... its no longer combustible/explosive... If you are worried about the paint catching fire, you should probably worry about the plastic lense catching fire as well.

I order my 6-bottles of this paint... why 6? because thats the minimum order you can get for some stupid reason. TammiesHobbies is back-ordered, so I got mine from cmhobbies.com. They seem cool enough.

Thanks for the idea RoninRX7! I'll make a write-up on rotorwiki when I'm done with it.

I'm using an actual "badger" airbrush hooked up to my house-air... I was tempted to try one of those things though.

How much paint did it take? How much of that one bottle did it take you to paint both lenses? I assume like 1/2 a bottle? Did you thin it at all?

DETAILS!

I used a whole bottle for the two lights. or at least it was nearly a full bottle, there may have been an 1/8 of an inch left in the bottom of the jar, not even enough to cover the whole bottom of it.

No dilution or anything, i just filled the little bottle and sprayed away. your SO lucky that you get to use a real airbrush though, that cheap thing SUCKED! the button kept sticking down and i couldnt shut it off without hitting it LOL.

Good to know. My plan is:

*Follow my restore write-up: http://www.rotorwiki.com/index.php/Lense_Restoration
*Mask off outer area
*Wipe down with wax/grease remover
*Spray with paint and clear to protect
*Mask off inner area
*Paint the outer area black

I currently have a set of yellow bulbs installed as well.. so that might be too much yellow.. might put my whites back in.

yea, id put the white bulbs back in. That will make the fogs the brightest. They will have no problem making yellow light with the painted lenses.

That is the exact steps that i took, only i didnt repaint the outside area black again. I didnt get any overspray, but the painters tape i used did pull off a little of the factory paint on the foglight.

The only reason I'm painting the outside again is because when I got them they were already oversprayed from some previous car... AND I nick'd them a bit during the restoration phase... I figure I'm repainting EVERYTHING anyways... might as well leave no stone unturned.
