Is my turbo Junk?

hi, my turbocharger seems to have shaft play up and down. if it is junk is there some where i can get a rebuild kit for it? or would it just be more worth it to upgrade to a s5 or a big single insted?

A little play is normal , oil pressure centers it so that there is no metal to metal contact.
Are you having problems like smoking or oil usage??

As mentioned, a little play is normal - oil pressure will take up the slack while running. If the turbine or compressor is touching the inside of the housing though, then you have a problem.

its probly fine then, i was checking it out because one day i just coundnt hear the turbo "wistle" after i had started my setup thats in my signature.

Side to side play is normal but as mentioned none of the wheels should contact the housings. Front to back play is not though, and means that the turbocharger is worn.

yeah there is not front to back play just up and down

it seems like it is still fine, but rebuilds for turbochargers are really cheap if you already have it off.
*well cheaper then getting a brand new one.
