My throw out bearing will not release the clutch all the way

I just installed a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing in my 90 vert. Took it for a drive and the clutch is slipping. I have figured out the throw out bearing is still applying pressure when the clutch is released. The arm is tight and doesn't release back from the plate.
It moved freely when we had it out and installed the new bearing. It appears something is binding it up and not letting it release.
Can you see anything thru the access hole under the tranny? Anyone had this issue?
Thanks!

the plug on the underside just lets you see a small portion of the clutch, there is no real way of seeing the inside of the bellhousing on the n/a trannies.

try to bleed the clutch hydraulics to see if they are the culprit.
also the rod that attaches to the clutch pedal could need adjusting.Try that too.

the slave cylinder is OFF. I should be able to move the pivot point some with my fingers. It's compressed against the pressure plate, not letting it release completely. Unless I can knock it loose, I guess it all has to come apart again.

the only reason it can be binding is dry/rusty grease holding the throwout bearing in place on the slider housing. you could try spraying some lubricant in there on it but it doesn't sound like you will be able to. just pull it back apart and inspect everything a little more thoroughly this time and add grease to the slides, pivots and pilot bearing. all of this should ALWAYS be done if you have the transmission out for whatever reason.

Remove the transmission and replace/fix whatever was done wrong. There's no other way around it.

The t/o bearing has 2 tabs that the clutch fork slides into, could this happen of the clutch fork were pressing against the tabs rather than inside them? Meaning, improper assembly.

Well, I decided on plan C, just run the he** out of it. I took it out and beat on it a while, and it seems to be hooking up better. I'm gonna replace it if I have to take it apart again, so I have nothing to lose. It's either defective or it has grease or the flywheel is too slick, so I'm just gonna run it. It really does seem better, and I only have about 30 miles on it. It might wear in.
At least I have the Harley as a back up, lol.

it could also blow the **** out of your throwout bearing at the most inconvenient time. constant load on the bearing will cause it to overheat and fail.

Never thought of that. I'm just mad at the car and I hate to redo work. It does seem to be hooking up better after I removed the rubber bushing at the top of the throw out arm. This car reminds me of my Austin Healy, work on it a while, park it a while...

Just chill a bit, then go fix the problem properly. You'll just eff up other parts and/or end up stranded. Mad is no state to work on a car.

You'll laugh about it in a year.

Then don't buy cheap parts and take on jobs above your skill level. Don't blame the car for your shoddy work.

Nice advice K Tuned. It wasn't shoddy work, didn't have to take it apart and its fixed. It's back to the HD Forums for me. Thanks for everyone's helpful advice. It did make the replacement easier.
