Found compression on only one rotor face on the front rotor.

Shot some trans fluid/motor oil mixture into the housings, charged the battery and fired her up.

Runs on 1&1/3 rotors for sure.

Shot a whole can of amsoil powerfoam through the motor using a vacuum source.

Now to let it soak in for a couple days and cross my fingers on just a stuck seal freeing up (oh please please)

Another friend is donating me a TII racingbeat dual catback.

Gotta love freebies!!!

Nah, they look fine as-is. Beauty rings on steelies look OK on antique American cars, but I don't think they'll look right on an 80s Japanese sports car.

Great looking car you got there for a great price though.

Is that some kind of AC line cord hanging from the front license plate bracket? What's that for?

None in the U.S. market. I always assumed they were only available in Japan and/or Europe, but apparently they were available in Canada. Hopefully some of our Canadian FC enthusiasts will chime in with some info on this.

What's also interesting about your car is the unusual factory audio setup. Most S5s that I've seen have a double-DIN head unit that combines the AM/FM radio and cassette deck in one chassis. Yours looks like it has a separate cassette deck and a single-DIN sized radio. Pretty neat. Wonder if that was only on Canadian cars.

I have seen the single-DIN AM/FM radio on S5 GTUs cars before as I think that's how most of them came from the factory, but I'm not sure it was the same one in your car.

I used the 24v boost setting on my charger so the engine would really spin. Now the radio doesn't work!! Hopefully it's just a fuse.

Day 2 de-carbonizing. No success yet. Will do the water treatment in a couple days. If no success there then it'll be transplant time.

I like S5 spoilers, but FCs look great without spoilers too. Can't go wrong either way.

Finally pulled the engine, and got a real diagnosis. Through the exhaust port I can see a chunk missing from an apex seal on the front rotor and a nick on a front rotor face as well. All the chemicals in the world couldn't have helped that. Shitty 3 piece seals! Stock 3mm seals in the GSLSE last 250,000km++ easily.

Just dropped my spare motor in last night. Now the long tedious task of hooking everything up. You can tell your getting old when your back starts to ache from only a few hours leaning over an engine bay.
