AFM options

Someones going to point me to the search button for sure but i was wondering if There are any economical alternatives to the stock flap style AFm on the FC's? I really need to test mine as I think it may have a dead spot in it. Been geting on it pretty hard lately and around 5K-5500 rpm I get a ever so slight hesitation for a split second (could be fuel loadup since my wideband dips pretty low around that area) . i would assume that the AFM is wide open by then so Im not saying its the afm. I've done some swaps on E30's in the past with hot wire systems, just wondering if there is a plug and play solution from a company similar to mafterburner or similar.

im not certain on this, but i just had an idea that i was wondering if people could prove or disprove. if you replaced the MAF from a different car that was voltage based, say z32 300zx? and had a SAFC could you set it so that the SAFC would act like a "translator" and allow a bigger more efficient MAF to work with our stock ECU? just wondering if it makes sense, cuz you can set the voltage range just like you would on another MAF. can someone who knows about the car's engine electronic system chime in on this?
