So no one ever had pics of this...so this is what I did:

first I cut these lines:


then I simply looped the two together and then plugged the other holes (there were 5 of them):


Thats it...anyone know if this is gonna work? I dont see why it shouldn't...but this is my first time doing this. any feedback?

not that i am a pro and i am not but here is my take on this i have not done any of this but if i was going to do what you did i would go buy some sort of fitting so that you can bleed it every now and then kind of like the ones for bleeding the brake system

what does everyone think of my idea??

Cool pics, but isn't that more of a modify your PS to Manual instead of the full swap. I did the full swap in January, now that is a total bitch to do especially if the engine is still in.

I did something similar, except I left those lines alone, and I plugged up the 3 that go to the cooler & the pump.

 

Sonic, did that work for you? that would have been a shitload easier....where did you find the bolts to plug with?

 

I had some bolts lieing around and I used some rather large washers with gaskets, it's working so far but, then again I haven't had the car on the road to give it a real test. I'll let you know whenever my car gets running!

 

I dont know how the steering react with the lines plug in like that vs taking out the steering belt. But in my opinion, when I drove around without the power steering wheel. It had to be the worst feeling, the steering is slow and heavy, cant turn for crap

 

Huh.. I *LOVE* the feeling of my p/s with the belt off.. With it on, it feels too much like a toy... I can turn it with my pinky..

Now, sure, it's a little tricky to parallel park, but you just gotta work those muscles.. Above ~2 or 3 mph, it's no problem at all to turn. On 225 tires, even..

If you do that, you should completely drain all the fluid out of the rack. If you do not, then every time you turn, you must move all that fluid around and overcome friction witht the road. Needless to say, it would be much easier without the fluid. Note: There is no reason to still have the fluid in there.

My car has the RPM sensitive p/s, it is a little stiffer

 

I'm sorry but your wrong...you have to keep the fluid in the rack to lube the seals. I have done this but looped the lines that go to power steering pump instead of the lines on the rack. I then plugged the line to the oil cooler. It works fine, gives much better feel for the road. I have heard the the TII is supposed to have speed sensitive steering, but my car always seemed to feel like a Cadi when driving down the freeway. Now it feels like a sports car.

i just removed the belt

 

My S5 RPM sense PS pump will probably come off soon. The change in feel in parking lot/autocross turns is a PITA.
