Question Is my oil pressure really low?

OK men, I have an 88 rx7 SE and today I noticed the Oil
pressure is ZERO and drove it about forty miles...it ran cool, no bad sounds or smells....I think (HOPE) its just the sensor or sending unit....what chu guyz think in view of the above?

If you had no oil pressure your car wouldn't have ran, period. Check the solder joints of the sending unit on the back of the guage, that's probably what's wrong. I guarentee you have oil pressure... you kinda have to?

Yes, thats kinda what I was thinking...or at like I said at least hoping...Oil is clean no smoking or nothing...does the engine have an electronic shut off if there is no oil pressure, before it seizes up?

the only warning I know about is the low oil level sensor, which pretty much gives you a heart attack when it "yells" the warning...saved my engine, though, got to shut it down before it totally lost all oil & crapped out...

Yeah...I just went out and noticed that there was a lot of accumulated grease on the sending unit and the electrical connection therewith. Its right under the oil filler tube you know...so I sort of moved it around a bit and guess what....Oil pressure guage started working again then quit a little later....good news. I'm going to clean it up really good and that probably will resolve it....thanks for your help and I guess we slid by this one, or so it seems...lol
