car battery keeps dying

for some reason my s4 t II battery keeps dying. i charge it and over night i go to start it up and the battery is drained. does anybody know if there is a problem with something staying on that would cause the battery to drain.

i have the same problem too. ive pretty much narrowed down to both the battery and the alternator. My lights dim when im on the brakes, and why battery will die even if i charge it and disconnect it from the car. Im pretty sure that one of the cells inside the battery has cracked. Im going for an optima redtop battery. Hopefully this will cure mine and your problem. -alex

Your battery is dead, or your alternator is sucking up all your power when you use blinkers, headlights, fog lights, radio, heat or a/c.

I would just buy a Joe Schmoe battery from Wal Mart and see if that is the problem. Don't go spending 100+ bucks on a battery, when the battery might not be the problem.

I had the same thing with my truck, and it was narrowed down to the alternator. I had the same exact problems you did. But an alternator on a Ford Truck from 1984 is not fun changing out. Right below power steering pump.

Good luck and be safe. Battery acid will **** you up real good.

It can also be a starter solenoid, but that is doubtful.

you need an ammeter. stick it between the battery and battery wire (either one) it'll read a current. pull fuses one by one untill the current is gone. you have just found where the current is going.

I had the same problem

First, check your battery if it is old, try to replace it see if that works.
Next see if the alternator is giving enough charge to the battery when its running, u'll need a shop for equipment to do this.
And check if something is draining your battery when its off like a light, or something

hope that helps

well i just put in my Optima redtop battery 2days ago and all i can say is Wowee!! cranks over very hard and fast everytime. Now more draining probs, i also got one of silverorotors FD alternators. Very well put together, made a world of a difference, above about 1.2k lights dont dim as bad as before, idle still drops alot when on the brakes but i know thats gotta be somthing else. PM silverrotor and one of those FD alts if you plan on getting an alt before he stops selling them.

igottafc read the question... you are not helping him at all.

he has a short circuit if it's draining over night. you need an ammeter to find where it's comming from.

a huge problems with the rx7 alternators are the power wire going to the alt. a alt. needs volts to in return charge your battery and that wire on so many rx7's are corroded and that ruins all chances of flow
its not the little wires in the plug its a big wire the only big one on the alt.
