Falcoms : No, its just one of the rare LHD models they made in japan.....

Craig: We are required to have a front plate, but with my bumper it's mounted so low and inward that its barely noticeable that I even have a plate on there. I had my stock plate up front, but my friend has had a Jap. plate on the front of his car in a much more exposed location for a year, and cops have looked right at it and not cared so hopefully the same will go for me.

Makaveli: The reason they look like they'd fit right in the stock bumper is because they're, well, stock lol (couldnt tell if you're being sarcastic, sorry)

Ummmmm.... You do realize that you are cutting off the airflow to your oil coller and radiator.... right???

I'm not trying to be an ***, the plate is cool.. however... thats a TII my man, you don't want nuthin obstructin the air from your rad!!!

IMHO, its a pointless mod that is restricting some air to the rad.

But hey every jackass and idiot has an opinion.

i was actually going to attempt to mount my plate on the side (even though i have an n/a). i hope there's no hardcore legality against it, though i believe there is. in texas, i think i read the license plate has to be at the front most of the car (which would, of course, be the center of the front bumper). i could make a bracket to make it be as far front as the tip of the bumper, but that might look a tad ghe-tto.

Ok, but here's a question for you guys, would you have said anything about air obstruction if I had my stock plate in there?

i agree with you, legally, thats where the stock plate goes. i dont really have anything against the plate. its kinda cheesy, but kinda cool. almost a guilty pleasure i guess. if it were me (well, it might eventually be me), i'd mount it on the side if you didnt mind a few extra holes in your bumper. funny thing is, i've seen plenty of japanese cars with the plate on the side. i just dont want it blockin the radiator (which is probably me just being ****).

i wasn't being sarcastic, guess they just standed out since the fog lights in the pic were clean and stood out more than any other pic i've seen before

the stock plates location is actually infront of the bumper itself above where u mounted urs now.

they did that to...well.....reduced airflow restriction.

I would have. I made a point of relocating my plate to minimise the obstruction to airflow. The reason people are hassling you about it is because you deliberately put it there.

Mount the Jap plate like the Japs do: on a hinge so it swings up out of the inlet air flow at speed.

Fujikuro has one on his FD. However he has the flip-up bracket. I think it looks nice, but that flip-up thing would probably help in your case. His can be seen here:
