Looks schweet!

Can't wait til my motor blows... heh... not really, but ya know

When it does, I think I'm gonna have to do the whole "pretty" engine bay thing. Can't stand looking at my nasty engine bay now. I'm too damn lazy to take off every accessory and tube under the hood to clean it all though, nor do I have all the metal polishing ****.

nah i may or i may not. i gotta be nice to this engine

but hopefully it should make ~250whp or so? i dont have the fuel to run more than 9psi so i dont have to worry about all those dyno numbers yet

You have enough fuel to go past 9psi...w/ the walbro you should be safe till about 12 psi. According to Henrik of digital tuning and his datalogging, (rtek7 ECU's) the stock system runs out of steam at 10 psi. The walbro w/ a rewire for voltage assurance should keep you safe by bumping up fuel pressures for richer mixtures since the OEM regulator won't be able to keep up.

Try rtek7's 1.5 chip for fuel/timing help as well. Removing that TID would help control boost better.

see sig

also yes, on my former engine, i had a walbro and an safc maxxed out running 12psi on pumpgas. that ****** would move. i was also watching AFR's with a wideband o2 (techedge 2.0 and bosch sensor) during this time.

The SAFC isn't really a big help with stock injectors. Once you trick the ECU into tossing in more fuel it also puts more timing into the mix. The injectors @ 12psi are pretty maxed out so the SAFC isn't going to help much. The SAFC is good for turning down larger injectors though the timing problem still exists.

It looks good. He is doing my motor also but were doing something a little different. Can not wait the see the results.
I even like the paint job. Maybe he can do mine in gunmeatal and red or blue.

interesting... what about greddy emanage then? i know you can alter the timing as well as the fuel with those. does the stock ECU deal with that well?

Well, the emanage is another piggyback but w/ more adjustability than an SAFC if it can control timing. Timing is very very important...in the future, Henrik hopes to release an ECU w/ datalogging capability which will be a HUGE advantage. With a properly functioning knock sensor, we'll be able to tune the car to knock and timing. Air fuel ratios are NOT everything since every car is different and every car will have a different goal A/F for their motor. However, anyone can tune to max timing and zero knock. This means you get the most ignition advance (power) with zero knock (detonation). This means safe and efficient power.

Personally, I see no point to an emanage. For the money, you might as well go for a full standalone like a microtech. Rtek7's ECU's are a great bargain though - you get some nice features with changes that aren't too drastic and all cars can benefit from. His current 1.5 ECU gives you a bit more headroom and safety margin. I cannot WAIT for version 2 w/ 720cc secondary control capability without an SAFC.

So what do you think of the knock sensor built into the SAFC?

i have a series5. doesnt he only make ecu's for series4's? also, greddy emanage is 300 bucks new. so you could get it for like 250 used probably.

it has a knock sensor built in? i thought it just had a knock counter for an external sensor...

Ahhhh, yea - he only does S4 cars. I installed V1.5 last night and I love it. The transition to secondary injection is just like it should be, seamless!! He lowers the secondary injection point to 3500 and bumps up the duty cycle a bit on the injectors (I think primary only).

The SAFC2 has a knock counter, not a knock sensor. However, it is NOT calibrated to your knock sensor so the readings are likely NOT what the OEM ECU sees. If the range of one knock sensor is different than another, the readings won't be accurate. But, it should be a decent tool to determine if the knock sensor is activated. I wouldn't tune by it.

it says on the pocketlogger website that there are plans for all the other model FC's ECUs.

and +5% on only the primaries wouldnt make any sense... since the load is split 4ways long long before the cap is reached.
