No, it's plus 5% BEFORE the secondaries come on. This gives you a bit more headroom out of the primaries, THEN the secondaries come on at 3500 at which point the load is split.

Per his PM w/ me, total headroom increase for the V 1.5 is about 10%

With a properly functioning knock sensor, we'll be able to tune the car to knock and timing. Air fuel ratios are NOT everything since every car is different and every car will have a different goal A/F for their motor. However, anyone can tune to max timing and zero knock. This means you get the most ignition advance (power) with zero knock (detonation). This means safe and efficient power.

Personally, I see no point to an emanage. For the money, you might as well go for a full standalone like a microtech. Rtek7's ECU's are a great bargain though - you get some nice features with changes that aren't too drastic and all cars can benefit from. His current 1.5 ECU gives you a bit more headroom and safety margin. I cannot WAIT for version 2 w/ 720cc secondary control capability without an SAFC.
Tuning ignition with a knock sensor is not safe at all, not to mention unaccurate.
Tune ignition with an egt gauge. I seriously doubt Henrik told this misinformation.

Emanage + injector harness + ignition harness + support tool = 450

http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/index.html

For those that don't want to dive into the complexities and frustrations that a stand alone EMS will present I think the e-manage is a great deal. A new SAFC II is 300 dollars. For 450 dollars you can get:

an afm correction map that is plotted on a 16 x 16 square
the abilitity to retard or advance ignition on a 16 x 16 map
the ability to control additional injectors on a 16 x 16 map
the ability to directly control the pulsewidth of your injectors on a 16 x 16 map

The last mentioned map allows the user to overcome and duty cycle limits imposed by the stock ecu. The e-manage adds on ground pulses after the ecu, so it doesn't know it's even happening.

I have one for my Miata. It cost me 350.00 for everything. I bought the unit for 250.00, got the support tool for 50.00, and got the connectors, pins and some wire for another 50.00. Check out the e-manage yahoo forum.

does it show you the total duty cycle for the injectors? that would be cool to be able to see the duty cycles.

A little note to kevin, DAMN you for just recently introducing the gun-metal color in your paint scheme. It looks awesome!! I'd have loved that for my motor!!

Yeah, but instead of making a house call to fix my clutch, he insists I learn to do it myself and gives me step-by-step instructions by email. I got it off, now to install the new clutch. The tranny is big and heavy, and I'm old and pitiful.
He has no regard for the safety (and laziness) of the elderly....

MWPayne- I'm with ya, but as I age I also get wiser in the uses of tooling designed to decrease the manual labor involved in a project- case in point is my recent rebuild; pulled the engine/tranny together out of the car, performed the complete rebuild without an engine stand, and reinstalled everything without getting a hernia or two- all with a stationary chain hoist and no other human help. Remember the wonderful physics concept called leverage.

Yeah, well I'm gonna use leverage, too. The leverage of Son #1 (17), Son #2 (15)
and possibly Kevin's protege', 'Chuckles'...
It better go in right and work, if not Kevin ain't even started to hear whinin'yet.

Lol, isn't that why we have kids in the first place, so they can do our dishes, laundry, mow the lawn, and install our trannies?

You're elderly and have never installed a clutch? It's a piece of cake, and I have 2 bulging disks and scoliosis..

It is rather sad, isn't it? I never was interested in working on my own cars 'till the 'seven' bug bit me about 3 years ago. But since Kevin's cruelty knows no bounds, I can (almost) pull and install an engine, and will soon know how to install a clutch.
BTW, that was the problem with the clutch, a bulging disk...it fell apart.

Sorry to hijack the thread, on with the original topic.

Sweet, I know I'm having him rebuild mine when the time comes down the road (knock on wood and stuff).

He has the single coolest money-making past time if you ask me. I always wanted to learn how to do rotary rebuilds and maybe open a side business, but it doesn't seem like there's too much interest here in Minnesota. I've seen a total of 3 other FCs in the last year while on the road.

Well, the guy's built at least three engines for me, and backed up his work 110%. He's even fixed things that happened that weren't his fault (pineapple sleeves worked loose), came to my house to remove/install engine (taught me to do most of that myself) installed various mods and fixes in mine and my son's cars.
He's invaluable to me and much of the rotary community, no way I would have a running RX-7 if not for him.
I'm in the middle of installing my first clutch now, and he's holding my hand via email/phone. I ask questions and send him pics about what stuff is and where it goes, he always answers right away. He's picked up people and cars stuck on the highway, even had someone stay at his house a night or two while work was being done for the guy.

Bottom line, he doesn't HAVE to do all this for me, that's just how he is. He does this for most anyone, I'm nothing special.
