My easy fix for a small fender bender.

First, I should explain how I was parked so you all can understand this... I was in the far right space in a row or parking spaces. To my immediate left was a parked Isuzu Rodeo. And to my right, the crub, which went beside my car and maybe 15 feet behind me. I backed out of the space and didn't go too far back, thinking my rims were about to rub the curb on my right. So I looked forward. There was the Rodeo, and I saw I had plenty of room to slide around it's back end. So I started inching forward, and in a matter of seconds I felt a small 'plunk'. I started backing up and I heard something plastic bounce. I looked to the rodeo, and now I could see the HUGE towing hitch poking out a foot or so. I paniced, and since the Isuzu didn't have the slightest scratch on it, I pulled off. I got a few minutes down the road and stopped to check my damage. Sure enough, my passenger FTP was missing, and a crack went from the passenger front blinker down to the front brake vent. I frowned, but just drove straight home, biting my nails the whole way.

After I showered, I picked up my younger brother (12) and headed back to where I hit the car. I hid my car behind a retaining wall near the parking lot with the Rodeo, and got my brother to run up and see if my FTP was still there and to look at the Rodeo again. He did both, and found my FTP. And he said that the other car didn't have a single scratch. So I felt better now that I had the FTP back. I stopped at autozone and bought some plastic bond crap, touch up paint, and clear coat. Here are the before pics:




Yea, it isn't too horrible, but enough to make me mad at myself. Anyways, I removed the bumper, bonded the plastic bumper cover together, and painted it. I was afraid to sand the plastic bond because I thought it might make it flimsy. I also straightened out the bottom bumper mounts, so my bumper would sit straight and level at the bottom. Here are the after pics.





yes thats a primered hood. So that was my $20 fix on a stupid accident. And before you start flaming me about it, I didnt do a hit and run. The other car was as good as new, and suffered no damage. If it had any scratches or anything I would have stopped. But I didnt find it nessicary. So... thats it.

you should have sanded it... i have a hole in my front bumper from my dad backing his truck into me... io havent gotten around to fixing that though.... haha

I was, but i thought it would make the bond flimsy. And the bumper got flexed a lot when my buddy and I were putting it back on. I'm happy with it though. I plan on getting an s5 bumper soon. So this fix is kind of temporary.

edit- And after this fix, as my brother calls it, my car has a 'battle scar'... lol
