my compression

ok, i got my car about 2 months ago (87 TII). well when it arrived at my house one of the first things i did was a comp test that yielded 69-69-69 on front and 70-69-69 on back. when i saw this i accepted the fact that i was gonna need a rebuild. well after two more months of sitting (prev owner had for 9 or so months mostly sitting) i have some money together and went shopping online. i emailed a guy about an engine he was selling and he mentioned the ATF trick, something i was unaware of, well now i am wondering how much of a compression bump i might get if i do it. what do you guys think? will this save my motor and money? i am new to rotaries and any opinion would really help. thanx.

Do a search on it - the ATF trick is well documented on the forum.

Have you had the car running yet? Get that sucker running and go enjoy it!

i think the atf is only done when you start up your car so that it builds up compression..i dont think its suppost to be done to fix any compression problems..then again i could be wrong...lets wait and see what the pros say about this..

yes ive driven the car, but wouldnt it be best to not drive it until gets rebuilt as to not worsen the condition of whatever is failing? will doing the ATF trick not help? is there something else i could try instead of a rebuild to get it in good working order?

the ATF trick just might free up your seals. they may just be a little stuck from gunk in the engine. Run a search on it and find out the procedure, it cant hurt. Good luck!
