My car is now too loud and I cant bear it...

Is there anything I can do to tone it down without sacrificing any of my add-on. Mods below...

Ghetto stereo system?
How loud is it?

My first Rex was measured at 104Db... slightly more than legal.

Its ok! Your ears will adjust! I bought the super-silencer for my N1 for when I travel, but it puts a serious crimp on the power. Although at high RPMs it makes this extremely loud, shrill whistle that sounds really cool :o

Actually, before the pre-silencer my car is already loud and I am already used to it. But now the car is "V8" loud at higher RPM. It intimidates other car and I hate that because nobody attempts to race me anymore

But seriously, is there a silencer I can put on the muffler tip?

Change your mufflers. Or get some glass packs put inline behind the ones you have, but I dont think they would live long.

Power can be gained from mufflers, not much thouhg, because they are a big restriction (or can be). They do create backpressure.

I believe switching mufflers can make a Big difference. I have read on the Mazdatrix site that they recommend the NA system to be used w/ one muffler pair over another because of the large difference in noise levels. RB mufflers have a reputation for being very quiet. A muffler that is quiet and flows well may cost a lot more $$ than one that just flows well...

If you're not too put-off by adding weight to your RX-7 ( like it seems a LOT of others are ) you can add a layer of B-Quiet Brown Bread ( www.b-quiet.com ) and then, maybe some sound deadening foam from JC Whitney.

Shouldn't add more than 50lbs, and should make a WORLD of difference in the sound from inside your car. After all... why sacrafice power, for the sake of people OUTSIDE of your car's well-being???

what kind of tips do you have on the magnaflows? if they are big enough, you can always drill a hole and try to fit an insert from another muffler ...

if not, then just get the RB mufflers ... they're quiet and they sound nice
