My beautiful midpipe

Im quite happy, I just got it from Rotary Preformance last night. Now, the only problem is, I cant get the friggin nuts off my old exhaust to put it in. Any advise? And yes i tried WD-40 and liquid Wrench, those babies are rusted on GOOD!

Usually if you soak the nuts the night before(sounds kinda kinky) they are alot easier to work with the next day.
They are definately not fun to take off. I recall using a breaker bar to get them off.

A bar with a socket accepting end (normally 1/2") that is normally atleast 18" long. The socket end pivots. It does not function as a ratchet.

Any store that sells tools. NAPA, sears, whatever...

If that doesn't work, find a pipe that will fit over the end of your ratchet or breaker bar. The idea is to get more leverage. The longer the pipe/breaker bar, the more leverage you have, the easier it is to loosen the bolt/nut, etc.

Don't get too excited. I've had bolts that wouldn't budge with 160 psi going through all kinds of air tools. If all fails, goto the store and pick up new bolts and nuts. Then take a dremel or hacksaw and cut the old bolts off. Course a torch can do that too .

goto the toyota dealership, get a bottle of pentrating lubircant from them... WD40 and liquid wrench can't even compare.

also if that doesn't work... take your hose, try to hose off all that flammable stuff you can.. take a torch, propane, butane, oxyacetalyne, whatever and try heatting the bolt and then giving it a good wrench

If your careful and have an extra set of hands you can try this dangerous method of breaking bolts.

Assuming the car is on 4 jack stands.

Put the breaker bar on and have someone hold the bar to make sure it doesn't pop off. Take a floor jack to the end of the bar and jack it up.

I just use normal sized ratchets and use SS pipes about 3/4 to 1" thick and slide it over the end..i think its easier to work in small spaces that way since the bar doesnt have to be 180* to the ratchet...sometimes i got it to like 20..maybe 30* to the side to fit under an obstruction.

Liquid Wrench and WD-40 blow. Mine came right off, I doused them with Deep Creep at 12 and 12 hours later they came off with a regular ratchet with little to no pulling.

Wow, where can I get some of that? Also Im quite worried about my 5th and 6th ports. I really dont want to wire them open and lose the low end torque, is there anyway to make them still work with the midpipe?

Well that's a bad idea if I ever heard one. Seems like a great way to destroy the ratcheting mechanism in your ratchet. Sure, it'll work, but when it doesn't, you've gotta run out and buy a new ratchet.

Use a breaker bar for breaker bar purposes. You can go ahead and put a pipe on a breaker bar if you need to; there's no ratcheting mechanism. (I've even broken a breaker bar at the head. Now THAT's tight!)

I recommend a torch and a breaker bar. If that can't get it off, just run to Budget brake and muffler and they'll cut the bolts off for a couple bucks if you pay cash... )

As for keeping your auxilary ports active, a search should reveal a few options. Or, check out www.FC3s.org....

I use mastercraft, same lifetime replacement deal. What I love is not having to drive to get another ratchet in the middle of a project. What I love is having tools meant for their specific job (I don't use my torque wrench as a hammer, sorry). What I love is taking care of my tools and using them properly so that they'll look great and work perfect: and not have to replace them b/c I abused them.

I dunno, maybe its also a motto for how I treat cars. Sure, a new car has a warranty, but that doesn't mean I can drive it into the ground and then get it replaced...
