my 88 vs my 89 - gear ratios?
I know that bringing this up is kinda pointless and stupid, but here goes.
I own an 88 vert and an 89 vert. I noticed that the 89 seems to have shorter gears. They coast at higher speeds, and run up the rpms faster. But reading up on the ratios, the numbers are the same. Am I just blind and reading the wrong material, or am I full of **** and the ratios are the same?

Could it be that the extra 14 hp makes you run through the gears faster?
To be certain that the gears are factory, just make a comparison chart. Make a note of a certain speed and the corresponding rpm of each gear in each car. Then take each car out onto the interstate and compare the odometer to the mile markers over a 10 mile stretch. If the odometer is accurate, the comparison chart will tell you if the actual ratios are the same.
Good easy project for a Sunday afternoon.
