my 87 T II wont go past about 4K rpm

When driving my car it does fine as long as it stays under about 3500-4000 rpm. I can even go past 4k if I dont floor it and I let the RPM's gradually climb and stay out of boost. But if I get into boost a little and go about 4k it just falls on its face and doesnt go any higher and kinda sputters a little, and has a couple little, small backfires. I thought about it being the secondaries, but I dont think thats what it is. The car runs a little rich. Also, I checked for vac leaks and found NONE, the fuel filter is good, the pump is good, its not the MAF sensor... I am stumped. Well, in the mean time, I guess I cant go higher than 4k and I would be ragging it out or gettin speeding tickets ha ha.

Is there a Check Engine Light. If there is, your seven could be throwing itself into limp mode.

87 should be a S4 - so no check engine light and no limp mode (unless it's been upgraded).

I'd really check on the secondary injectors. If they're not firing right, it would cause problems.

You also probably want to fix this soon - not going past 4k sounds suspiciously like something that would cause a severe-lean problem around there (read, detonation possibility).

yeah there is no light, and I thought about it being the secondaries, but I dont think thats what it is, but I think I will go on and check them. It wont be running lean or anything though cause I shift at about 3k.
