Muffler suggestions?

edit: tldr: need a oem fit passenger side muffler, suggestions?

Wow parts are getting hard to find, also should've replaced them both when I bought one like 2 years ago. So replaced the leaking cat, replaced the precats with a downppipe, and now it blew out the leak in the passenger muffler into a gaping hole. Can't seem to find any oem fit mufflers which could've sworn I just bought one for the driver's 2 years ago. Only one somewhat sensible that I can see at the moment seem to be RB 16438 which also says won't bolt up to the stock y-pipe. Anyone have any suggestions?

Alternatively RB 16418 and hope that'll bolt up to the stock, which at this point wouldn't even be stock. Also a few walker on amazon, though those seem to require welding. Really didn't think I'd be spending 1k on the exhaust this year.

archival edit: Seems once upon a time there might've been quite a few choices, but at the moment the only choices seem to be a Racing Beat Power Pulse RX-7 Exhaust System 86-92 RX-7 or Apexi N1-Dual Muffler, 1986-1991 Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) if you'd rather have something bigger. Hopefully by the time you need one one of them'll still be around.

RB 16418 is the complete system and bolts to the output of the stock cat. If your cat is a stock replacement and ends in the stock location this will work.

Edit: I meant to say complete cat back system.

Apparently, RB is no longer selling individual Power Pulse mufflers. These mufflers aren't listed on their website anymore. They were selling them just a few months ago when I ordered my new y-pipe. They're still selling the Power Pulse complete cat back system (RB 16418)which includes the y-pipe.

Rockauto doesn't even have mufflers for the FC! Getting common parts for these cars is now becoming increasing difficult.

I noticed that as well. Looks like if you already have a good Y-pipe and want RB it's the Road Race or Rev TII mufflers and a welder. That is if they get them back in stock and don't quit selling them individually as well. Right now the left road race is all that can be added to the cart.

Its quite likely they are just out of stock, and don’t want to sell something they don’t have on hand. I think that is responsible vendor practice. A call would easily answer this.
Years ago, rumours floated that RB had stopped producing their aluminum endplates. This wasn’t true; they were simply out of stock when the buyer inquired.
RB has always done well to the RX-7 community, and produced flawless products and given incredible advice and service to the community. I would be surprised if that changed without them giving us a head’s up.

True. I did notice on the right muffler to the Road Race system and the complete system is on backorder with a pre order option. As far as the mufflers to the cat back are concerned the O.P. may need to give them a call as you suggest.

Ordered a AP Exhaust 7094, seemed to be the only one I could find, dunno why 7094 is available when 7095 for the left side is not. Posting also didn't contain any pictures of it. Guess will post if it works when it comes though I don't think they sell if anymore. Worst case scenario will just have to buy a 16418. Think technically the Apexi N1 is better, but I've got an s4 N/A, I don't need a 3/4" pipe.

Went to autozone to check on the old order for the driver's, fairly certain it was a Walker. At any rate none of the 4/5 listings they have are available anymore.

Racing Beat is by far the best exhaust system out there for the RX-7 in my opinion. They hold up extremely well and sound great. In addition they look fantastic and the fitment is spot on. Let us know how the exhaust you ordered turns out.

AP Exhaust 7094. No frills, seems to match up, 2" output. Hangars bits are a little bit rusty, probably sat around for ages.

Will probably get the RB duals at some point, possibly if the y pipe ever decides to leak, but for now think I'm good on both sides for quite a few years.

How much of the exhaust system were you able to order and what did it cost you? I'm looking for an inexpensive oem type exhaust for my 88 GXL.

Only needed the right side muffler, that totaled to $92. Wasn't looking for a left but didn't see any, my left was replaced about 2 year via an autozone order. Also don't know the availability of a y-pipe.
Seems NAPA/O'reily has BOSAL 171369 (right) and BOSAL 171371 (left) listed for about 160 each, which'll run you over 300 without the y-pipe. If I had to replace the whole system I'd probably go for the RB 16418 specially if just the catback portion was going to run me least 500 anyways.
Per previous posting also replaced the leaky cat and got rid of the precats with a RB downpipe and a magnaflow cat which wasn't quite long enough to directly bolt on, those two alone was like 400. Probably should've gone with a different cat.

Can't edit posts so had to create a new one.

Addendum to AP Exhaust 7094, it's loud and hollow sounding, which is great if you're into it, not so much if you're not. Far worse than a standard walker exhaust. Might just order a RB just in case they decide to stop making it at some point.

Racing Beat is an amazing exhaust and sounds great. On the quieter side but still an excellent tone and the quality is top notch!
