MSD 6btm

Is it worth it to buy the MSD 6btm to retard the timing?? I don't think it would work considering it would only be running on the leading coils and the trailing would be different.

Nope, unless you also ran them on the trailing coils (3 boxes)

When will people realise: trailing retard doesn't matter!

The trailings are already quite a bit retarded from the leadings, so retarding the leadings only is perfectly OK under most circumstances.

Messing with the ignition system is mostly pointless since it is quite good already. Spend the $200 on gas.

Bzzzt - **** like this can get you a dead motor.&nbsp Shame on you...

Normally, the trailing split is retarded from the leadings, but as you go to full load, the trailing split goes to zero.&nbsp You can argue that the position of the trailing spark plug is a small ignition retard, but believe me, the trailings can push your car with very little fuss.

I've run a 13.9 @ 101 with my Turbo II JUST ON THE TRAILING IGNITION.&nbsp My Crane HI-6 died on the leadings.&nbsp The car has run a fastest 13.447 @ 105.00.

We've blown up a 13B-REW on a built FD on the dyno with a J&S "just on the leadings".&nbsp The J&S was retarding like crazy, but the engine still let go - proof the trailing is enough to blow the engine quite easily.

Yes, "under most circumstances" you can't do anything bad to the motor.&nbsp Unfortunately, high load under WOT is the MOST IMPORTANT time to have everything working right - a small problem and detonation rears it's ugly head and goodbye motor.

As a side note, retarding the leadings is a delicate situation.&nbsp Due to the wastespark firing of the leadings, you've got like a 10-15 degree "window" which you can retard the leadings before the "other" rotor starts firing into the other chamber...
