Msd 6al-2 trailing coil relay mod problem

Ok hoping someone has some insight on this. I put msd 6al-2 on one of our rx7s. I wired it up like a diagram I found in the forums and did the relay mod to kill the trailing coils. Everytime 2 step is activated it takes trailing away like it should but then it won't come back on til the next ignition cycle. I've wired it where it kills power to the igniter and I've wired it to where it just takes power from the coils after the igniter and it does the same thing and ive checked and it does give power back to the trailing coil so the relay isnt the issue. It's and s5 t2 stock ecu with rtek chip. I've checked and power returns to the coil but the ecu apparently won't keep sending the signal. Anyone else had this problem is the ecu smart enough to just cut out the trailing? Is there a way around it? That's the diagram I followed to put in the msd. TIA for any help

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm in the process of setting one up myself.
