Mounting Airflor Meter to TB

Is it.. would it be.. can it be done without 'problems'?

I am talking about my S4 N/A I am going to attempt to mount the Mass airflow Sensor DIRECTLY to the Thottle body.

I was wondering can this be done? WIll i have to worry about running lean/rich.. all i am doing is basiccally a short ram intake set up.

I have removed the Cruise control / cold start assist tank, and the charcol canister. so there is that large pocket of room to mount the AFM and cone intake there. I will design a plate to go under the unit to protect from exhaust area heat.

Any opinions would be great to hear. thanks guys if this works, i'll take pics.. if it doesnt work, i'll still take pics.

Why are you doing this??? Is this car a drag car that is not ever being driven on the street???

To start, the Intake Duct from the AFM to TB is smooth inside so there are no gains replacing that.

The motor will no longer be vibrationally and movement isolated from the AFM, which probably will cause erronious readings.

And the AFM will be just above the exhaust; subjecting it to a lot more heat than it was designed for, as well as metal traps the heat better than the plastic, so your intake charge is going to be hotter.

So I repeat... why are you doing this... what do you expect to get out of it, besides a burnt up AFM that doesn't read right.

Its not a good idea. I tried it and my car ran a lot worse, for the exact reasons Mark just pointed out.
