motor swap

i recently bought a '86 fc. the previous owner said it used to be a tii and that someone had stolen the car and took everything(motor, tranny, and driveshaft) Well he put in an N/A motor (under 70kmi) and must have also changed the cluster (no boost gauge) anyway, the car is crashed from the driver side and has minor frame damage. I want to put this motor into my S5 Vert while i finish saving up for the tii swap. HOW EASY IS IT TO SWAP THE S4 MOTOR INTO AN S5 CAR?? note* both are complete cars.

pretty much the same as swapping any motor no wire changes. dont hold me to it but i think the s-5 harness will work but you gotta switch out the ecu. different impedence injectors. also check the vin numbers on the 86 Turbo II. If it says JM1FC332 it's a turbo car. JM1FC331 is non-turbo. just for craps and giggles.

Holy ****!.......................

1. Stay away from this car!
2. They did not make TII's in 86
3. It is alot of working puting that motor into a S5
4. The ECU will not match the harness will not match the TB will not match for the OMP and lots of stuff. It will be alot of work and exspencive.

Save up waight and get a S5 13bT and be done with it.

the vin reads jm1fc331. what a disappointment! I kinda figured that tiis were 87 and up? i also counted the ridges on the pumpkin on the rear end and there is only 9 unlike the tiis which have 11. well i can get the rebuild for dirt cheap and imm pretty far from finishing the tii rebuild. thanks for the input guys

NOT TRUE!! Don't post this sort of response unless you know what you are talking about please.

I did this swap. I used the S4 shortblock in a S5 car. I filled in the split air port on the lower intake manifold with JB Weld. It's located just under the primary intake ports. I removed the EGR valve and replaced it with a blockoff available from Racing Beat. The S5 does not use one. I ground off a bit of metal on the rear iron, next to the inspection cover for the clutch. This was necessary for the S5 intake to fit. I removed the front cover from the S5 motor and put it on the S4 motor so I could use the S5 MOP. Be careful when doing this so the bearing stack inside doesn't fall out of it's place on the eccentric shaft. I used all the S5 externals and the car ran great. I wish you good luck and PM me if you have any questions.

Edit: Others have done this swap as well. It has proven itself to me. I did it because i got a low milage reman that was in a S4 for $200. This engine ran so well, I am swapping it into my new S5. The wife wrecked the car I did this to. (wasn't her fault)

was just humor and u goofing around. Just saying that its mostly opinionated and that it is harder and more $ then swapping in series. But then again my take on swapping series is opinionated as well ;-)

Well of course everyone will have their own opinion...this was expected. my price for the swap is $300, guaranteed to run perfect, and done in 2 days. my s4 motor has only 63k on it and doesnt leak from anywhere + compression is good. I can sell my blown s5 motor and almost break even.
