Question motor mounts and stuff

i have noticed that my shifter tower is kinda kokeyed in the hole. also the rubber boot on the shifter itself is broken and has leaked fluid onto the grommet that the shift tower protrudes through and has melted the damn thing to a pile of black goo!

also the tranny moves (noted by the shifter movement) when transitioning from accel to decel. the motor mounts dont LOOK broken, could the rear tranny mount be broken? its really phukin anoying cause it also causes the car to jump and surge at parking lot speeds. i hate looking like a dumb *** that doesnt know how to drive a stick!

the tranny also makes a lot of noise in 1 and 2 while decelerating. well it makes noise all the time actually, i am makeing the assumption that the broken shifter boot would be the cause of fluid loss- hence the noise.

one last thing, anyone have a short shifter they wanna sell me? or atleast, where could i find a cheep one?

thanx

now it is time for BEER!

WTF???Q!?:!?!?!?!?EDQWFMOPhprhgaorn[hi3r[oibmq[riohgi890vg8jae[vqerigj]po.

sorry, just currious as to why no one has responded to this. should i post some nudey pics???( just kidding) it was probably an obvious question bout the tranny mount and crap, but whats going on with the rubber boot on the shift lever? it leaked some fluid out of the shift tower and ate the rubber gromet that seals the area around the shifter tower? whats up wit dat?!?!

The rx-7 motor mounts wont look cracked, but they'll probably be seperated from their cups when you remove them.

My TII's engine bangs when letting off boost in 5th gear because of this. They look fine, but the rubber piece of the mount is lifting up.

Shift lever - automatic? I would think ATF or gear oil wouldn't melt your shifter boots, but if the exhaust is clogged & the catalytic converter(s) are running WAAY to hot, the heat being radiated could be enough to melt the shifter boots.

Both your engine and tranny mounts most likely need replaced if there is that much movement. Also, the fluid in the shifter resovoir is not the same as the tranny fluid. If the tranny is making noise, at least check the fluid level. I would advise changing the fluid over to a good synthetic as well.

well, im sure theres no shifter fluid left... cause i dont see any seepage... anymore.. will that make it hard to shift? cause my clutch seems fine other than the feeling like its slipping in first and second under hard acceleration. also, does anyone make a taller gear for the rear end? first and second gear just seem too short for the power. i feel that if i can get a larger rear end gear then i wont waist time and momentum changing gears every 2 seconds.

vaughnc..
its a 5 speed, the shifter fluid leaked out cause the boot on the shifter tower was torn up, and chemicaly melted the rubber gromet surrounding the shifter tower.

wow, didn't think gear oil/hydrolic fluid would melt rubber.

well, the rubber is petrolium based and of course if there is oil sitting on rubber it will break it down to its original form...petrolium!
