More S4 to S5 swap questions
As I was emailing Hypntyz7 back about a motor, he brought up an interesting point. The S5 motor has no EGR.
I was going to just put the S4 UIM and LIM on the S5 motor, and call it good (after swapping the front cover). Now I have problems.
If I swap the S4 manifolds to the S5 motor, Kevin says I have to JB Weld some stuff closed. So then I thought, I would put the S4 front cover on and the S5 intake (mechanical OMP). But the S5 TB doesnt have a spot for the OMP arm.
So then I am thinking, would an S4 TB fit on an S5 UIM? I dont understand how I have to JB Weld things shut if the gaskets for the S4 and S5 are the same..
The emissions for this motor have to be intact, because I live in an emissions state...
any suggestions here are greatly appreciated.

not really sure 'bout the emmisions stuff, but you can use a s4 tb on a s5 intake.you have to grind off a "nub"on the bottom of the tb,and rebend the omp rod to clear the manifold.make sure you get the s5 black "spacer"if you do this, thou.it has different vacum paths then the s4.i think ther may be some differences in the exhaust port are with egr stuff-i did not matter in my case,as i used a header witch blocked anything off that needed blocking off...heh.

good point!you have to use the s5 ones with the s5 intake[aux.ports].hmm.actually,i dont think i can help there....on the s4,the air passages are internal in the lim,fed from the acv,i belive.the s5 have nipples on'em[i think maybe the ecu controls a solenoid for'em]i guess you could[if ur keeping ur airpump]buy 2 summit racing rpm switches, and use one for the vdi and one for theaux.ports, using air from your airpump.my aux.ports are opened using direct exhaust backpressure from my header, and i have not gotten my vdi fuctional[never enough time]

Well, the issue apparently is that the Intermediate housing on the S4 and the S5 have different length ports on them. Which is odd to me, because according to the mazdatrix website, the gaskets are the same. I need to find someone running an S4 intake on the S5 motor.

So my apporoach is, get it going and then (maybe) do the front cover\TB swap IF I get tired of the premix. Think about it and it might be a good option for you too.
