CA MOP and premix

I have just replaced my MOP and EGI and I was wondering if I should start premixing? I have poked around and seen that when you premix the MOP is usually blocked off. If the MOP is still on and premix would that be a bad a thing to do? And should I just stay with the MOP until it fails again? Thanks. 91 N/A

you can do either. most people eliminate the OMP so that it won't fail and put the car into limp mode. the other reason is that premixing lubricates better and reduces the amount of carbon buildup inside the engine compared to the OMP system which burns crankcase oil.

if you leave the OMP on, the suggested rate to premix is .5oz per gallon of fuel. without any OMP the recommended rate is 1oz per gallon of fuel.

Sounds good. I'm bad at math but I will see how much of premix I will need to add to the car if I start to do that. And also, with the MOP on and the premix, If I forget to add the premix on the next fill up will it actually damage the engine. I have read somewhere on here that when you start to premix you need to keep doing it or else the engine will die. I wanted to know if that was correct or not.

it won't hurt the engine if you start then stop, only if you delete/deactivate the OMP and are running strictly on premix.

Perfect. Thanks so much for the info. Been MIA from the site and the car for awhile and I just started to get back into it again.
