mods response

On fc's like 87-91's TurboII do they responsed well to mods... like the rsx. Or do they just give like a couple of hp for every little mod that you add. Let me know what you guys know so that I wont end up blowing my money like crazy.

Stock hp, 182hp for the Zenki (1986-1988) and 200hp for the Kouki (1989-1991).

Add a full 3" exhaust (under $1,000 from Racing Beat) and the power jumps to over 250hp.&nbsp 50+hp increase from just the exhaust...

It'll smoke an RSX.

after the exhuast, you're going to have to worry about fuel, so make that your next upgrade.

Yea, they respond very well.

I just dyno'd 215 rwhp on my 140,000 88 TII with cone intake downpipe, highflow cat, and 2.5 catack with unrestrictive mufflers. (8 solid pounds of boost)

I have a few safety measures in place, but that was my pre modification benchmark.

saltlakebay...how come your hp is low from the those little mods..because with turbo a fc shuold be about 180 or 190hp and with all that little simple mods it only gained like 25 or 35 hp more?
Are you guys sure that the mods response is really that great.

the HP numberw saltlakebay posted are at the wheels, not the flywheel.

A Honda S2000 has 240hp, but dynos at around 200-Rear-Wheel-Hourse-Power.

The bolt-on exhaust system increases horsepower approximately 32% - a 59 HP increase on a 1987 Turbo II RX-7

how about you can hang with a NSX?

maybe the NSX was a crappy driver, but i hanged with him on a roll, and no i didn't do a racer flyby, i was looking at him, he was looking at me then he gun'd it, i downshift, then BAM everything was still meaning he wasn't moving much, sure it took me but he was in front in the first place.

that what made me so in love with my rx-7, simple mods and hang'd with a 90k car, even though i didn't beat it, that was enough to tell me this car has alot of potential.

i still cant believe that a full exhaust system can bring it up 50hp..
man if it can bring it up soo much then I wonder if the other type of mods will have the same excellent response just like the exhaust.

The stock exhaust is super restrictive.&nbsp Cats are super restrictive.&nbsp The exhaust is the key to freeing up a lot of power.&nbsp Almost everything else does not produce the power a full exhaust does, so don't expect the gains to be huge with other bolt-on's.&nbsp An open air filter, TID, and boost controller will produce a quick street beast that'll run deep 13's all day in the 1/4-mile and will smoke 90% of the cars on the road nowadays.

The reason you get such a big increase in HP from the exhust, is because the exhust is free'er flowing, AND you pick up a few PSI of boost.

so if i do an exhaust upgrade how does that free it up more. Meaning like if you say that its restricts it how does it unrestrict it?

Turbo runs "better" if you remove restrictions.&nbsp The stock exhaust is basically holding the turbo back.&nbsp Once restrictions are removed or minimized, the turbo runs better.
