Hey, just another quick question

Whats the difference between an SE model.....Mines an SE with 4 Lug Wheels

Is it just basicly less options then the GXL, and GTU models? (Power windows etc)

I have also heard it has different breaks....any other differences?

Mines S3 SE model

Yours is a series 3? That means there's TONS of difference between any GTU, GXL, or anything.

Check out the first gen forum, they'll help you out.

Re

I believe it is an S3, the S3 was the first line of Gen 2s from 86-88 the second series (The S4) is 89-91

Correct me if Im wrong though

I did kinda settle on a S3 SE model, living in Minnesota its impossible to find a nice RX-7 (which means mine gets more looks )

I talked to a local Mech who owns an RX-7 shop and he told me to try and stay away from TII because they have more problems then other models...

s3 is 84-85 first gen
s4 is what you have 86-88

SE is base model, bases have 4 lugs, and single piston brakes, front brake rotors are vented, rears are solid
on all other models they have 5 lugs and 4 piston brake calipers up front and single piston calipers in teh rear and all of the brake rotors are vented.

I forget which years bases were called SE, mines an 87 and its not called anything.
Maybe it was just 88, oh well can't remember.

T2s are nice, but boosted rotaries can be troublesome, although all RX-7s are troublesome.

SE were only available in the USA as a 88 model.

86 and 87 had both the Base model, and the Luxury coupe (GX in Canada) both of which came with 4 lug wheels single piston brakes and a solid rear brake rotor.

But for 88 the base model was discontinued and the Luxury coupe was renamed the SE. In 89-90 the SE was renamed the GTU and the front wheels went to 5 lug (but still single piston).

yes, very few FC's came with a LSD

Only the 86-88 GXL
87-91 T2
88 GTU
89-90 GTUs (note the small "s").

No other models came with a LSD from the factory.
