Mod/Upgrade Path to take for a S5 TII

Ok, i just got my TII a few weeks ago. Already started getting parts, but I want to know where I go from here? I'd like to know the path I should take so that I will get the most out of every mod. (for instance, I know I shouldn't be buying a S-AFC before I get other stuff. Etc)

Right now this is what I have: (1989 TII, 20k mi on engine, 100k mi on car)

+ Apexi power intake
+ Magnecor 10mm wires
+ Apexi turbo timer

-
What now?
- Exhaust? (Dual N1s)
- higher capacity fuel pump / injectors
- Boost/Fuel controller
- FMIC
- Send turbo to turbonetics to be rebuilt/upgraded(100k miles on it)
- upgraded radiator

I want to do this right and I care about this car more then pretty much anything in my life. All suggestions are appreciated.

Id first buy a walbro fuel pump. Second I would buy a FCD for it. After both of those are taken care of I'd then go for the full exhaust.

I would concentrate on making the car run correctly. In your other post you state having problems. Well in light of that you should hold off any performance upgrades and concern yourself with fixing the car before moving on to putting more stress on it. Diagnose and fix the problem then CYA and get all the guages/controllers/fuel components you need.

hehe, yeah, i figured someone would mention that.

it's tough, because i'm so damn excited to get at this car. I'm just trying to plan out where i'm going to go - but first, as you said, im going to fix the small problems i have.

if i can't figure it out by tomorrow i'm just going to take the hike up to BPR in boston and have them look at it.

Well that is good. YOu should always make sure that you have enough fuel for a TII that is what all the TII guys always say since it is really easy to run lean on a Turbo and pop the engine. I would get the S-AFC if I was you and get bigger injectors and a better pump. A fuel cut defensor would be another good idea. I would recomend the stainless steel oil cooler lines from corksport or mazdatrix mine had one blow apart a while back. I just got lucky I have a good eye for oil. Some good silicone vaccume lines would help out any small problems. A new thermostat and radiator hoses. Did you get new plugs with those wires? A change of transmision oil and difiratial also would do the car well. I hear it is better to run synthetics in those.

whoops. i actually meant to quote your first post above, not the fuel pump one. Im going to get the car running perfect before i invest any more cash into it, i'm just also planning ahead

already changed oil/tranny fluid. spark plugs looked good when i took them out.

what i would give for a rotorhead around my area

Hav you checked the regional forums. There should be someone there. There are also many RX owners that are not on here that live in my area. I know of about 30 7's here and only 2 of us are on the forum.

i have only seen one other running FC on Cape Cod, and one FD..

trck their butt's down. If they are rotor heads they will probably help you. I try and help all the people that I can but I am stuck here in the desert and I am young so a lot of the older guys are like "get away little boy" I guess I look like a thug kinda guy or something. But try and find those guys and ask them where they get their work done or if they will help you out. I personaly will not let anyone touch my car that can't handle a rex or that has one too.
