Mod my hood?
So i have a spare hood for my 88 vert and was considering trying to modify a scoop or something similar.. i was gonna try and find a used sti hood scoop but think it might be a little much and not really functional. So i was curious if anyone has modified there stock hood at all and if anyone has pics that would be cool!

I had to vent my hood because my intercooler and radiator are now v-mounted. I searched all across the place for a decent option, but have you tried searching for "hood vent" or "hood scoop"? All you get is a bunch of ridiculous crap. Giant scoops, ricer non-functional scoops, screw-on louvres, etc. A NACA duct is easy to find, but wouldn't have done me any good since I need air to go out, not in. One day I saw an Evo VII sitting outside work so I took some measurements while he wasn't looking
This was the "in progress" picture. I've finished it up now, with the exception of priming and painting the underside, since cutting the steel hood will cause it to rust in those bare spots. Let me tell you though, what a pain in the *** this was. There are 3 layers to go through, and 2 of them are glued together.

I can, give me a minute. I haven't installed it yet, but this is what it's going on. Just imagine a turbo there, it's getting a rebuild.
Here we go, fresh pics:
Here's the back
And a couple side views:
Still not done. I have a little tweaking to get the vent to lay flat. I just hope it's in an area of low enough pressure to vent air out.

I wanted to do something with mine at one point and finally found some I like. I just dont know if the guy is selling them anymore. Plus I'm in community college, looking for a job, and own an RX7 so it's not like I have money for them anyways. lol

with that scoop i posted, you could do similar to this
Mold it in looks awesome and functional
People will be quick to dislike due to being on drift cars.
Should perform better then that EVO stuff posted above since it has that angle in front of it.
Forum member Nopistons! was building his own, looks pretty dam good

Gutted my 240sx hood and rocked hood pins
freaking awesome for that car or steel hoods.. not sure about aluminum.
the vents remind me of the vents from a water heater enclosure

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
Yeah, there is nothing sexy about those "sexy style" hoods. There are no curves, no subtle features just this angular in your face grotesque vent.... did I mention the vent looks like ****?
