Misfire/backfire upon decelleration
Misfire/backfire upon decelleration
Next issue...
when revving in neutral from idle to 1500rpm and suddenly releasing the gas, a series of popping sounds are heard. All the time. Every time. Checked and re-set the tps a million times. Tried the water method but since there's a series of events to make it happen, its rather hard to properly test for vacuum leaks.
I did however, notice that all the hoses surrounding the acv have hardened to a rock-like texture. They dont seem to be cracked, but i doubt they're holding the seal they're supposed to.
My question is, what on the acv controls this?
Second question, when is the split air mechanism active? what series of events make it occur? perhaps an explanation on it's duty cycle?

ACV is the anti-backfiring sensor thingy. So most likely that is the problem. Alls u have to do is take that thing off, make a block off plate, and your back-firing will be much louder and more frequent. The split air mechanism has something to do with the dual xhaust. because i have a single xhaust and the SAM has to be blocked.

No offense, but please read up on rx7s. It has nothing to do with the dual exhaust.

But I don't know how that can affect the engine misfiring upon deceleration. It sounds to me like it keeps dumping fuel, and not hitting fuel cut upon decel for some reason... (not a leaky injector, already tested for that)

Forget the TPS. I don't get afterburn unless I *try* to make it happen (revving the crap out of the motor
) and my TPS never gives the same reading twice.
Fix the leak and test the ACV - the procedure is in both the FSM and Haynes...

well whatever that was my problem, it **** up the backpressure also but what do i know!! i replace exhaust system and doesnt do it(backfire) anymore!! im sure it can be something else but like i said that was my prob!! PEACE!!

the split air pipe is for the catalytic converter for emissions, and the excess air gets dumped right into the exhaust
