mileage on an RX-7

For a 1987 NA rx-7, is 140,000 a lot of miles?

The car seems to be in perfect condition, but its from a dealer, so i'm sure that they've touched it up if it wasn't perfect before. Plenty of oil pressure, and plenty of zip from the engine.

Obviously the lifetime of a car varies greatly depending on how it was driven, but is 140k nearing the end of the average NA rx-7's life, or should it still have a lot left in it?

Also, can anyone give me an idea of what the average maintenance cost on these are?

its most likely going to need a rebuild soon, unless if it already has had one. Be prepared to shell out $1000+++ in the next 40k miles

well 40,000 miles is already a few times $1,000 in gas alone... i dont think i'll have the car that long. Is that $1,000 for the engine rebuild, or just lots of little things that go wrong over the course of 40k miles?

just for engine rebuild, its usually more than $1000, more like $2000 engine rebuild if you do it yourself

Ask the dealer if the engine has been rebuilt already. If it has, you're probably all set for a while. If not, you MAY have to rebuild it soon (probably within the next 40k miles)

Just test-drove the car out on the road
it NEEDS a new clutch, and the suspension feels pretty soft too.
Could someone with only basic equipment (no car-specific tools) and little experience replace the clutch?
