MAZDA wont fix the squirrell

today i got in my car.....started her up and watched the pathetic squirrell mouse seat belt move its way to the back, however it didnt make it all the way.

i now have a broken "mouse type" drivers side seat belt so i took it to mazda to get the "free fix"

anyway i get there and the guys uses my VIN number and brings up a sheet on what the car has already had done to it.

turns out it had already been fixed in 1998!! i was like wtf?? then why is it broken again?

basically the guy said nothing and said i couldnt get it fixed twice so i am screwed now.

also that grey wire is showing and hangs down and gets a bunch of graphite on my clothes.

should i cut the wire and be done w/ it? just plug the seat belt in each time i drive?

Yep, me too, same problem. Is there a way to crank them back to a certain position, cause frankly mine are stuck in the down position. It isn't a problem but when and if I get my five point harness I don't want to have to put it on all the time. And plus just reaching up and plugging the thing in isn't that much of a problem. If there is a way just throw it my way please

ummm. . .unless I'm mistaken, it is an eternal manatory fix. Due to safety issues, if it breaks, it has to be fixed.

Ted, you know the skinny on this?

From what I understand, it's supposed to be a perpetual recall. it's a safty thing so the HAVE to fix it again and again...

ummm, GM technician here; check this out...seatbelts are required by Federal law to be warrantied forever, for ALL AUTO manufacturers. Don't eat the BS line they give a/b not fixing it twice. I just replaced a set of belts on a '77 Camaro the other day, under warranty!!

Yeah I got that problem on the passenger seat. I just played with the emergency crank, took a screwdriver, and popped that graphite/silver bitch back in there. Now it works fine... someday i'll take 'er in for fixin

yes...sit in your driver seat, turn your head left, and there's a little removable panel (maybe 3x3 inches) pop that off. in there is a plug and a small hex key turning mechanism. unplug the plug, and find a small hex wrench that will fit in the slot. crank it back into the position you want. you'll just have to unbuckle when you get in from now on...

and don't buy the BS the dealer is feeding you...its a LIFETIME warranty. i'm not on my home comptuer but there is a site i ahve bookmarked that lists ALL recalls for all vehicles produced in the US. i'll send you the link if you want and oyu can print it out. it states its a recall that must be completed by them...

Under no circumstances should you be denied service on the seatbelt retractor.

A complete replacement...

>>and repair of any damage to trim as a result of replacement<<<

...is mandatory.

By law.

Please place the names of the dealerships and contact numbers in a personal message to me.

I will clear this up, as my father has a good freind that is the regional Mazda VP.

I have dealt with him on this subject before and he wishes to be informed of these issues as they areise IMMIDIATELY.

It will rain down from above that this serice WILL BE DONE.

Please make sure you give me the names of the dealership, and the NAME OF THE PERSON you spoke to.

Consider your cars fixed.

I've seen this happen before, nad the response is impressive.

Also, please leave me your telephone contact information so that the dealerships can call you to scehdule the replacement.

They will be told to track you down to do the work.

>EDIT<
One more thing, he also requested that you include a detailed story of why you were denied service.

He wants to know the context of the denials too....>EDIT<

Like I said... its a beautiful thing.

This has come up before. And yes, the warranty is for replacement forever on the vehicle. The guy you talked to didnt know what he was talking about. I used to have a link to a webpage that talked about the warranty and there was an 800 number to call Mazda if you were having a problem getting a dealer to fix it for you. Dont settle for that "Its already been done" bullshit. I will see if I can find that number for you.

Agreed - don't even bother with talking to ANYONE at that dealership...
Contact Mazda USA directly and tell them your situation...

I got a better idea. Go get in an accident and sue Mazda for like $50 million dollars since they refused to fix it. Downside is it would ruin our rotary dreams forever. Wait, don't do it...

Becareful with those damn dealerships, I got my seatbealts fixed with in 3 days, pretty good deal I thought, when I went to pick it up, my Rockford Cd deck, punch 100 amp, and 1 punch 12 in a box, where all missing!@!@!@ Guess what the service tech said "Was that like that when you droped it off??"
long story short, I had to get a lawyer only to get my $500 back 2 months later from those bastards....

hehe for my 86 N/A here's a recall -

Defect Summary:
IN AREAS OF HEAVY USAGE, ROAD SALT MAY ACCUMULATE AT SURFACES OF COMPONENTS OF FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS.
Consequence Summary:
THIS WOULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE DISC PAD LINER CORROSIONTHAT WOULD PREVENT FREE MOVEMENT OF DISC PADS RESULTING IN INEFFECTIVE BRAKINGOF THE FRONT BRAKES.
Corrective Summary:
REPAIR FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS TO PREVENT ROAD SALT ACCUMULATION.

I don't suppose this means I could have mazda replace the front brake rotors/pads for free?

I need a brake job badly.
