Yes thats duct tape on the wire and yes thats so much build up i cn pick it off in flakes. You guys think that maybe this ahd something to do with emissions problems?
I don't think the O2 sensor has anything to do with it. Mine had 150k miles on it when I passed with flying colors.
Is your new BOV plumbed back into the intake? If not you run extremely rich when you let off, and that might be it. You also have no air pump, which can be part of it.

Yeah I know its going to be tough to pass without an air pump but i also know that its possible, Im just hoping i wont have to invest in an safc quite yet to tune it back a little. As far as the bov being plumbed back into the intake what exactly do you mean by that?
The O2 sensor is only used during light-load cruise to improve economy. Unless the emissions test involves a dyno run, it won't have any effect on the results.
It's worth replacing though, as I doubt your one is working at all. I'm running without one at the moment (waiting for a sensor boss to arrive to go on my new DP) and my fuel consumption has increased a bit.

under full throttle the O2 sensor does nothing.
The stock BOV (or Air bypass valve
) blows back into the intake. The stock ECU is programmed to compensate for this, so it adds a bunch of fuel when you let off. If you vent to the atmosphere (like many aftermarket BOV's do) then the fuel still gets added, but the air isn't there for it to burn in.
I think if you can set it up temporarily so the BOV vents to the intake (after the AFM like the stock one does) then you may be able to pass.

Hmm very interesting idea, i think i should head over to home depot and see what i can find in the way of vacuum lines and whatever i can find to fit in the hole on the bov.

i always read how ethanol will make ya pass in a good way, but exactly how much do you use? I.e. do you mix it in with your gas, or do you wait until its damn near empty and run it straight?
