maybe she be dead

light rain today. went for a ride. getting on highway I was drifting very lightly and when I came to the staright away to get on all of a sudden big loss of power. I still have oil presssure and the engine didnt overheat. I thought maybe the cat was clogged. I gutted the cat, still hesitation. She starts and idles, however when I rev it is has lots of hesitation. I wonder about timing and maybe fuel filter/pump. Both L & T coils are firing and they seem okay. Someone help please

like what? I cant see her being dead. I can definitely see it being something electrical. I checked the mass air flow sensor and its not that. What could it be? Both wires on each coil are firing. I think maybe the drifting on the long curving on ramp may have tripped that sensor that gets tripped in an accident, but wouldnt that just shut the fuel right off? What else could it be? It starts and idles, just mad hesistation when I kick it.

oh yeah, no warning lights or buzzers are going off. They all work too. I am a real stickler with this car. She is babied when it comes to maintenance and run like a machine when driven.

p.s something definatly got wet, or came loose, when does the hesitation come into play? if it's around 4k than your secondary's arnt coming online. also check your primary injectors to see if their spraying

def. sounds like somethin is wet...check TPS wires but if it was light rain it would have to be something lower down...check your harness for breaks.

thats the same with mine. Still not fixed tho. its still in the process, im upgrading the pump and injectors. But i have the exact same thing. Engine idles, no over heating slow to rev hesitates. I cudnt figure the problem out. It has compression and everything too.

I think its the fuel pump. I drove to Maine and back this weekend. (I live in RI). I noticed that at high speeds (over 120) she hesistated. I took the door off the pump and turned the key on and no noise from the pump. Isnt there a safety switch that shuts off the pump in a collision? I noticed a relay right near the fuell pump harness on the left shock tower. Is that it? Either way, I think its the fuel pump. Tomorrow I am going to investigate it further when it is hopefully not raining.

No, the fuel pump only runs until there's enough pressure. I think you might be able to jumper the test circuit (by the passenger side shock tower, yellow or green I think) and it should run.. check the FSM

Perhaps something got wet, but I'm willing to bet that a compression check might tell another story.
