Did you chew that hole out?
For calling yourself the "master fabricator", I figured you would have known about something called a "hole saw".

I posted, and I've beaten it, so I guess that doesn't apply to me.
I post theses things in hopes to benefit one person or another.
In all seriousness, a 2" intake duct is not going to benefit you or anyone else. It's simply too small. Air will always follow the path of least resistance, and that little duct ain't it.
It's 2 inch, and I did not want to cut 3"'s into my frame.
There's no frame anywhere near there. You can cut much bigger if you want to, as others have said they have.
I did not see one person post that could even pump my gas, much less talk smack on my fabrication.
Lucky I have plenty of experience pumping gas too.
It's more cold air then was going into my intake before
I doubt it, especially since the stock cold air duct is bigger than that. Which do you think is easier, pulling air through a skinny hose, or pulling it from the engine bay?
P.S the speaker wire IS for the fuel pump rewire, if you din't know that you A. drive a N/A ..
S5 NA's have the same resistor/relay as Turbos.
an 80MM intake canot take in as much air as that 2" forces in the intake at highway speeds...
I think you need to go away and reconsider that statement, because it's complete nonsense. A bigger pipe flows more air, no matter what the speed.

Agreed. Looks like a rush job and a lousy hack at that! It's people like you that lower the resale value of our cars!

Master fabricator eh?

Don't make me post pics of mine again!

I swear, I'll do it!

You said that it's 2" pipe - looks like 2" OD, not ID. A 2" OD pipe is the equivalent of about 1.5"ID. (I've got 3.5" ID)- Still think that you get more air than stock?

Well, I used PVC - and since I didn't see him mention that it was metal anywhere - and in the pic it looked like PVC, I assumed that's what it was. Is it not?

I'll conceed that the pipe probably isn't 1/4" thick, but I'll bet it's probably 1/8" - 3/16" thick. Double that, and the ID of the pipe is 1 5/8" to 1 3/4". That is still small. Even if the pipe is 2" ID, I still think it should be bigger.

Wow! What a pissing match! Ease up on each other a bit guys. Us old farts have blood pressure issues to contend with already
Somebody should post a pictorial of the most painless way they have found to fab an efficient coldair intake.
Keep in mind that some of the better ideas for getting the air to flow are inefficient in other ways such as driving in the rain. What works well on race day conditions can be horrible for a daily driver.
Crap traps/deflectors and drainage seem to get overlooked in some of the otherwise best designed systems.
A few small holes drill in the right places for water and a screen mesh design to deflect debris rather than "catch" it and the realization that the better flow of air usually means more filter servicing need to be noted.

Please don't jump my *** you guys know I am too old a frail for that

If you other people had half the car I did, you would have better things to do then flame my art work It's 2 inch, and I did not want to cut 3"'s into my frame. Just say when, and we will run 7 Vs. 7. I did not see one person post that could even pump my gas, much less talk smack on my fabrication. It's more cold air then was going into my intake before, and once you can do something besides blow hot air, please let me know.

P.S the speaker wire IS for the fuel pump rewire, if you din't know that you A. drive a N/A ..

B. drive a turbo who's next run might be it's last.
what have you done besides a pump rewire and a mock up cold air intake? just interested, not trying to flame

i can beat it.. i have made 2 cold air setups both with frost in the intake.. first was in front of the rad.. as shown on my cardomain site www.cardomain.com/id/cowboyxxx and I made another yesterday.. i ahve the 3" pipe going off my turbo though a hole exactly where you put it and i have the filter near where the fog light hole is.. this will be awsome for boosting and stuff. no cold air as of yet though

The pictures look good all. I might think about increasing the size a little bit, disreguard most of my last 2 posts please, I was so drunk i don't even recall posting that. It was pretty damn funny though

and of course I was kidding about beeing a "master fabricator" that was just a little bit of sarcasim.

I used a dye grinder to cut the hole, with a carbide bit... and no I don't ever plan to sell that car, it's paid for.

Not trying to be an ***. I was just responding to his "challenge" and comments he made in his drunken state.

Everyone starts somewhere when it comes to custom work. Enlarge that hole and get some real air flowing through there.

I was a witness to his drunken state, he's not lying! lol And i agree a bigger pipe is better but getting some cold air never hurts.

I plan to enlarge it... but I was up to some more master facrication tonight

It was not about feeling gains from that .. .it was just a step further from accidental detonation, every degree helps.
