massive smoke at start-up.

When I first start my car after its been sitting 2+ hours it smokes ALOT. But once it warms up and I drive it for a few minutes there is no smoke at all. The smoke is bluish, smells like oil burning. Is it the side seals? OMP maybe? I plan on rebuilding my motor this summer, will it last me?

When mine did this it was coolent seals, but if its blue and smells like oil its your oil control rings. I to had planned to rebuild this summer, however the problem progressed to heavy smoking at all time over the course for a few months, thus im rebuilding it now.

I thought it might have been the Coolant seals are broken.....when the car is cold the seals contract and allow coolant to seep into the chamber, when you start it up it burns white. As the car warms up the seal expands and the smoke stops until the engine cools and the cycle begins......this goes on until the seals are completely ripped. You are sure it is blue and it smells like oil?

The smoke is blue, and it doesn't smell like coolant burning, also, my coolant level is always fine, no problem with overheating. Oil consumption is not too bad also, I burn a quart per 700-1000 miles.

probably bad oil rings and u will need a rebuild soon do you notice alot of oil comsumption 2 hr is pretty little to see smoke!! my motor got 78k miles and ther e is not even a hint of smoke on start up after 2 weeks fo sitting..
I would drive it if im not worried about new parts but if u wanna preserve the major parts for the rebuild i would try no to drive it much..

but who knows i had a smoking motor run me 20k miles =)
