mass air flow

Hello,

I am looking at a turbo motor on eBay that I am going to put in a 87 non turbo rx7 can I use the non turbo mass air flow that is already in the car. Because the turbo motor does not come with a mass air flow.

Thanks

Dont buy your engine from ebay. For every one positive ebay story there are probably 99 that ended bad (wrong series engine shipped, sensors and perepherals stripped, **** compression, etc) You will end up with an excellent 1200 dollar candidate for a rebuild, so factor in another 1500.00 to 2000.00 for that. Since corksport no longer ships jspecs, I HEAR that possibly JAPAN2LA here on the forums may be a decent possibility for your series 4 turbo engine. So pm him before you buy the shitmotor from ebay. Then grab a gallon of coffee and or crystal meth and research the **** out of this topic for months, running searches for HAILERS and HARNESS. I have done this swap too and will gladly assist any intelligent researched question.

ebay for everything except engines and turbos.

**** i ranted with out answering the question........... Yup na afm all goods. Gas mileage will suffer a little though. you need a lot more than the afm though, throttle cable, n318 boost sensor, n332 ecu injectors that match the impedence of your na harness that you will be using, bigger fuel pump, new clutch, not ebay xtd either to name a few off my head.

Get the TII AFM and Pressure sensor. Better off that way.

from what I understand, using the n/a afm will result in a wicked rich condition.

I never understood this. How is the TII AFM different from the N/A? I understand the NA MAF's inability to read boost pressure but am lost as to how the TII AFM would be any different. As far as I know its a simple device with a flapper/plunger connected to a rheostat that varies a 5V reference signal to inform the ECU of the incoming air volume.

It has to do with air flow under boost. "To get any boost at all you are forcing the AFM open even further, so the ECU thinks more air is getting in there, so it gives it more gas". Icemark

I know the answer because I read the factory service manual.
