mass air flow

well... i hate my mass air flow sensor its restricting so much air... is it safe to chuck it? i know on the 84 supra's if theres a pin hole in the intake they wont run right. wondering if the rotary is the same :-? it would be sweet a$$ to chuck it out in the country.. were my muffler fell off

You're not making enough power for the AFM to be restrictive.

Why would you think you could just take it off anyway? Do you know what it does?

You dont have a mass air flow sensor, so is it safe to chuck something that doesnt exist?

You have an Air Flow Meter. Two COMPLETELY different animals. And without a standalone you cant chuck the AFM.

What are you running on your car that you are so convinced the AFM is "restricting so much air?"

Not true. I forgot to plug mine back in once and the car not only started, but it drove, and until I noticeded that I couldnt get past a certain rpm, i realized i forgot to plug it back in and I then did so.

Actually a MAF sensor is an airflow meter, it's just a different type of airflow meter to the one we have.

An S4 will start but not run without the AFM plugged in, because the fuel pump will not be switched on by the airflow switch. The S5 uses a different method to control the fuel pump, so I can't say what it would do. Run so lean the car would barely move would be my guess.

just build a custom cold air intake like i did and go through the radiator support between the headlight and the radiator and then make the harness to the AFM longer and hide it inside the front bumper with the air fiilter attached to it.

removing the stock AFM on an N/A won't give you noticeable power gains, at least not easily. I have dyno graphs to prove it...

That doesn't do anything to remove the AFM.....
