lift up the spare tire cover, then look on both sides of the car where the motors are and look for a phillips head screw in a service hole, turn the screw clockwise in one direction till it wont go no more and operate manually. Do this on both sides.
You may need to turn that screw counter-clockwise to lower the top, I dont know, you will know when you try.

I removed both motors from my vert. The top is much easier and quicker without the motors. Only problem is that you can't use the "targa" mode any more.

I always found the targa mode to be a PITA anyway... Taking it off then storing it in the trunk always seemed to be not worth the trouble - but it did look cool - and it was nice that it was the only car that would do this.

I also found that driving in targa mode on the highway is much louder than full-down mode.

However, it was useful on cold (sub-30 temp) days.

uhhhh maybe silly question, but I'm just trying to figure out how having a big hole in the roof is helpful on cold days?

I found that I can be comfortable in my 88C with very low temperatures... If I still want the roof open (which I almost always do) taking the center section out and running with just the targa up keeps the car warmer than full convertible mode.

I can drive in sub-30 degree temps in targa mode and still have the roof open.

ahh, so you're saying still having the heater running and you still keep reasonable inside temps ... gotcha.

Here is a tip: people who drive with thier tops down, or t-tops/targa off when its really cold out, look like douchebags. You may think you look cool, and maybe you might say " I dont care what others think", but trust me, everyone is thinking bad things.

I hate the cold!!! but who cares. So what! its your car and if you want the top down so be it. Its better to have your heater running anyway. It takes heat away from the engine. LOL I've seen stupid things on the road. Like a guy driving a tercel with his boxspring on the roof. His wife or girlfriend was holding it with only her hand. People driving their car with a trash dragging under the car.

Then I must be considered a jackass, cause I do not wear pants (only shorts), but I ALWAYS have the top down. What do you mean people think bad things?

When I pull into school in shorts and a T-shirt with snow on the ground and temps of about 25F with the top down, I always get odd looks, but no one ever says something bad. I do not think you are correct in your statement.

If people really have nothing better to do with their damn time than think stupid thoughts about someone driving around with their top down, then screw them. I DO NOT CARE.

you are getting odd looks, because they think you
look stupid. I dont care what you do, wear, and when
you put your top down, just informing you

And if you want to get technical on it, you shouldnt operate your top when its cold out, you do run the chance of cracking the top. Its actually in the owners manual.

It's a good thing we don't care much what anybody think. I bought the car because I like the top down. I drive the car with the top down because I like it.

So, Fuch anybody elses opinions.

Do you make all of your decisions in life based on what the crowd thinks. Sad.

oh stfu, I dont care what anyone thinks, including you. Drive with your top down when there is snow on the ground, you go on with your bad self, as long as you think you look cool, your good to go.
And if you DIDNT care what people think of you, you wouldnt have such a long sig, who cares what you drive and what gauge you have in it.

I shouldn't cross the street against the light. I't the law...
I shouldn't look at beautiful married women, It's in the bible...
I shouldn't run with sissors in my hand, my mom told me so...
I shouldn't do a lot of things. But I seem to anyway. And in all my miles, I have never seen a cold based crack in my roof.

Perhaps you SHOULDN'T think too much about what other people are doing, but you probably will anyway.

I read what you wrote. Last night in SC it was 17 degrees. When I purchased my car (In Philadelphia) it was around 13 degrees. I've lived most of my life in Philadelphia. And drove most of the miles on my car in The Tri-State (PA,NJ,DE) Area. I think that was plenty cold.

You come in telling people they look like Douchbags then you get upset when they answer you back? Hmmm. Maybe you sould just keep your insults to yourself and nobody will ride you.

And last time I looked I was not wearing any underwear.

i didnt single anyone out and call them a douchebag.

But anyhow, this is out of hand now, and not worth my time anymore, only reason might be because we seen a guy in his car with the top down, windows up, and first thing to come out of everyone mouth was "what a *******, dick, etc...."

Im sorry if I offended you, now have a nice night, and again, im sorry.

An apology

To all you on this site who are reading my last few posts... Please forgive me for being so combative. This has been a bad week for me and I did not feel like taking any insults today. I am leaving now (from warm SC - to cold Philadelphia) to bury a family member.

Nomally, I try to avoid flame wars, but I just can't tollerate people who have nothing but insults to sling. I value opinions, but I think maybe people should be more careful about how they phrase the delivery of their opinions.
