Manual trans oil capacity
I replaced my manual transmission oil today (88 N/A) with Royal Purple. The FSM says 2.1 quarts, so I bought 3 bottles (1 qt each). When i filled it back up it took pretty much all 3 bottles and the level didn't feel like it was up to the bottom of the fill hole. Has anyone else had this happen? Is the FSM capacity wrong? Am I an idiot? lol

I would think that the FSM (Factory Service Manual) would say the same thing, or be an even more reliable source of information. Anyway, I don't have an owners manual.

Did you have the car tilted when you filled it up?

HAHA I wasn't spouting it...i was asking! And yeah, i had the car jacked up a bit on the drivers side...i'm sure thats what the problem was. I beg the Rotary God's forgiveness for even questioning the accuracy of the FSM! :-p

I believe the non-turbo is 2.1 while the turbo is 2.6.
I got 3 bottles a well, and filled it with all of them and it still wasn't even with the fill hole. I'm pretty sure the car wasn't even though. It also sprayed some fluid out when filling it. I used aaron cake's air-pressurize filling method and the hose popped out a few times (tranny fluid in the eyes is NOT FUN.) Other than that it worked gread, though.

U think tranny fluid is bad to get in your eyes, try getting some carb cleaner in there,,, talk about a chicken running around with its head cut off, i must of ran 2 blocks looking for a damn water hose....lol... then my eyes swelled up too....
I did changed my manual tranny oil from crap vavoline to royal purple.
So far no grinding as before.
I filled it first by trying a pump, but that pos pump didnt work so i gravity fed it into the tanny from the engine bay.

note on using an air compressor to pump the oil in: DO NOT forget to adjust the pressure regulator first if you use a real air compressor- Those bottles WILL explode if you get more than about 30psi in them, and its not fun. I used my buddy's compressor which i didnht realize the adjustment **** was broken on, and I lost a $10 quart of oil all over myself and my shop floor, as well as my hearing for about an hour.
also, neither of those things you guys got on you is anything compared to brake fluid...got some up my nose one time and damn near had to go to the hospital.
