slow battery drain

hello all,

my 88 turbo has a slow battery drain prob. battery reads about 11.7 , so I give it a quick jump, and battery terminals read about 12.3. normal, car runs superb,
and terminals read about 14.5v while running, so alt seems ok.

When turned off, volts are 12.3 at terminals as normal, then 30 mins later, 12.0, then 1 hour later, 11.7, and another no start.

If the alt keeps it charged at 14.5 while running, can the alt still be bad { when off} and cause some kind of slow drain ?

Ive done voltage test between neg battery cable and neg battery post, I get about 11.0v between them { car off} so the book says i have a drain.

wondering if anyone out there has had a common occurance, or if rx-7s have a battery drain prob in one bad area etc..

thanks all !

forgot to mention that the battery is a good one, a new ultima.
I had a die hard battery first and the same thing happened, so i switched in the new ultima, and same thing happened, so battery is good.

Start pulling fuses one-at-a-time to determine which circuit is causing the drain on the battery. Then using the wiring diagram in the factory service manual, trace down that circuit to locate the source of the drain. Don't forget, there are 2 fuse boxes--one under the hood and one by the drivers side kick panel. Good luck. Tracking down a short can be very time consuming and frustrating. Be persistent and methodical.

And also make sure you have good clean solid grounds and that your battery cables are not corroded inside the sheath or insulation.
