magnaflow cat
ordered a high flow magnaflow 2.5 cat with the air pipe inlet.
cops around here in columbus ohio are cracking down on us without cats. so i ordered this one.
anyone know if that will built up enough pressure in there to activate the ports ? on the old 87 N/A
i have one pre cat the one on the downpipe left but the main cat and other pre cat is out there . ran 2.5 pipes all the way back to one obx B9 muffler.
at the moment i have tapped into the air pump hose to acibate the ports but honestly i put the car in neutral reved it up to 4000 and nothing worked to im hoping this will work.
the ports them self hhmmmmmmm one slides in and out nicely by hand you push in and comes right back out.
the other on thats hard to reach i usually use pliers to move it but it to moves in and out and comes back out.
let me know what you master rex mecha. think.
the high flow cat will arrive tomorrow and will be put in by myself over the weekend then.
for you out there in the erea of columbus ohio. be aware that certain counties around us already have emission testing going on. i have heard lancaster is one of them. if you wanna find out go to the BMV and there is a new listing of counties around us i was surprised i never knew we in ohio had these.
thanks

Get a pressure gauge - a cheap boost gauge will do.
Hook it to the actuator & T in a tube you can blow into.
You should be able to blow them open. (unless you've been smoking for years)
Note at what pressure they open.
Hook them back up normally, but with a T & a long tube to carry the pressure inside the cab.
Go for a ride to see when you hit that pressure.
If they aren't opening, you now will have a way to calibrate the air pump method.

I can tell you ports do open with bonez pipe (open) on stock exhaust '86. My guess would be you should be ok. As you already ordered system, my advice would be to try it and see; if they don't open you could consider wiring them or seek alternate means.
