MAF question

I just did a TII conversion into my 86. I don't have the stock intake pipe coming from the turbo to the MAF. so I thought of just making pipe out of aluminum coming from the from the turbo. Cold air intake I already have a filter.... But what about my MAF Sensor? Do I have to have it connected still? Is this possible to do with the stock ECU and harness?

You need the AFM if you're using the stock ECU.

Well can I just connect it to the wiring harness and just have it sitting there. It'll still be connected... adn just have the filter on the end of the aluminum pipe connected to my turbo?

no, Mass air flow sensor. as the name imply s it needs to be able to sense the amount of air going into the engine.

If you could do that, why would it even be there in the first place? Like everybody already said, you need to have it in place, measuring airflow and sending it's signal to the ECU or the engine won't run.

And it's not actually a mass airflow sensor, since it can't measure mass flow, only volume. There's an air temp sensor in the AFM that the ECU uses to calucate mass from volume. The term MAF only applies to hot-wire airflow meters.

Don't get a stock one, make a better flowing one.
