According to my notes, only the GXL had a LSD in 86

Sounds like...

You have a GXL. With four pot calipers and a 5-lug axle, I think you've got one. If so, you have an LSD equipped stock.

No, that is not correct. The Sport model came with the dual piston brakes as well.

Yeah, the 86 sport also came with 4-piston calipers, and 5 lug axles, but I'm not sure about LSD or not. It did come with a spoiler though as well.

the 1986 and 1987 sport did not come with LSD, they did come with 4 piston brakes, and the suspension from the turbo.

Only the 86-88 GXL and the 88 GTU and the T2 models came with a LSD for the series 4 cars

Is the LSD from 86-88 GXL, 88GTU and 86-88 T2's a bolt-on for a series 5 car? Or does a series 5 car need an LSD from another series 5?

An easy way to tell if the rear end is lsd. Jack the back end of the car up. Get both wheels off the ground. Take the car out of gear. Turn one wheel by hand.

If the other wheel turns the same way, it is lsd. If the other wheel turns the opposite way it is not lsd.
