lowering ride
hi, im having trouble in what springs to pick to lower my ride i like racing beat springs and eibach but what i dont like about them is that they dropped the ride not too much only .8 for the eibachs and 1'' for the racing beat springs. im looking at some intrax springs that dropped the ride 1.8" i like it but i dont know if thats too much downgrade with my stock wheels on. if anyone could help me here i would appreciate it.

It's not recommended to drop the car over 1".
Those Intrax 1.8" drop has been redesigned to drop only 1", I believe.
The old Intrax 1.8" drop used to **** up your suspension and tires, cause you cannot dial out all the nasty negative rear camber such a drastic drop induces.
If you want that dropped-in-the-weeds look, look for another car.
The FC doesn't like drastic drops like that, and the insane rear camber just eats up tires...in weeks.
Unless you're a pro fabrication shop that can realign the suspension after such a huge drop, don't do it.

Yeah.. dude.... take a look up under your front wheel wells...... there isn't much suspension travel on our cars already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I put Eibachs and AGX's on my FC and I love it.. rides AWESOME and doesn't bitch and complain when going over bumps....
DISCLAIMER....
You have 15+ year old springs on your car NOW... most likely... the've sagged... On my TII... I saw 1/2 inch drop in he front and 5/8 inch in the rear after a week of driving the car with the new springs and i was sure they'd settled in...
Ie... most of the stock springs have sagged a bit by now.. and you might not actually get the .8 inch RB and Eibach clain because your car is already a little lower than stock!!
But it WILL ride better!
PS... I highly suggest getting the Racing Beat Camber adjuster link when you put springs on your car.. I started with 5 full turns in.. and thats just a bit outside the reccomended camber limit on the rear yet... I think two or three more full turns will get 'er there! (says you can go 20.... what you do is take the stock link off, then adjust the RB link to the same length as the stock length and go from there.. shortening the link from stock reduces the negative camber on both rear wheels at the same time.... pretty neat you can actually watch it happen!!)

You didn't say if you are lowering it for street or track. Rx7s are already pretty low, have a low center of gravity, and handle well stock. Most kits don't lower them much because they don't need to be lowered much. The worst thing you can do is give up too much of your suspension travel, then you'll have to run such stiff springs and shocks to keep from bottoming out that your ride quality goes to hell and if you take it WAY too far your handling will get worse, not better. When you bottom out while cornering, the suspension won't have any travel to absorb a mid corner bump, and the jolt upsets the balance of the car and puts you into the weeds.
If its just for the street, try to be REASONABLE with every mod you do and you'll enjoy the car alot more.
On the other hand, its your car, and if you just want to lower it as far as possible because you like the look, and you don't care about the consequences, then go for it.

Anyone know what is the maximum size tire you can fit on a 7 after it is lowered? I have 225/45/R17 and looking at getting racing beat or eibach springs, but I am afraid with my wide tire I will have rubbing problems if I lower my car

I'm pretty sure intrax is about a 1in drop all around. It handles great. Very predictable. Be careful in the rain though. It looks good to. And no the stock rims fit fine. I'm about to put 17's on and they wont rub either so ur good.

I sure you can fit 17 inch rims if the car is lowered, because if you increase the rim diameter then the height of the side wall on the tire will be decreased so essentailly you still have the same over all radius tire/wheel combo whether you have 16 or 17 inch rims, but in my case I increased the width of my tire from the stock 205 to 225. With the stock ride height I don't have any rubbing problems, but if I lower the car since all these kits were designed around having 205 tires I am afraid there won't be enough room in the fender wells for my wider tires to move without rubbing. I can find if anyone with a lowered 2nd gen has 225 wide tires without problems
