Low oil pressure? (for real i am not stupid)

Well i just changed my oil pan gasket so i don't know if i mess up something or not, but according to my oil pressure gauge. (at 3000rpm i am suppost to be getting 64-75 but i am getting around 50 to 55) The oil pressure also stays around 60 close to redline so what could be the problem?? I mean teh gauge is working but i don't know how acurate is it and i removed the thermo pellit to drain the oil cooler could i mess up something there?? OH yeah i put every thing back the way it was. I also have a Mad oil leak for the oil cooler could that also drop the oil pressure by that much?? (mad as in 1 quart in a week) And i also keep the car at 3000 rpm to let the oil pressure go up but it stayed around 50. Any help will be apprciated!!

The oil pressure will drop if you do have a leak and that's the cause for the low readings or fluctuating readings. You need to fix that leak. It'll start eating away at the rubber under the car. Always use NEW copper washers on all oil lines. See where the oil is leaking from. If you unsrewed the oil bypass valve, you need to use new copper washers. The gauge is just for warning only and not to give precise readings. For precise readings, use a reliable aftermarker gauge.

You did not remove the oil pickup from the pan did you? And if you did, did you use a gasket ?

The oil pick up as in the thing with the screen on it right?? IF yes than i didn't remove it, i believe i removed the thermo pellet and oil level sensor but thats about it. Does me removing the thermo pellet effect the oil pressure that much.

If you are referring to the thermo pellet that is behind the main pulley bolt on the front of the motor. Yes, just removing it will cause oil problems. You can modify it or replace it with a bypass pellet with benefits but I believe removing it completely is BAD.

Atkins rotary has a photo of a bypass pellet on their website (only $15.00 from them).

wHAT? That is the thermo pellet?? I thought it was in the oil cooler next to the oil line. Okay.. well what woudl you call that thing under the big bolt in the oil cooler?? It looks very close to the thermo pellet in the pic. OH yeah i drain the oil cooler thats why i had to remove that big bolt under the oil cooler. But i put everything back the way it was.

There's a bypass valve/pellet in the oil cooler too.

Oil thermo pellet is in the eccentric shaft,
the oil bypass valve is in the oil cooler.
That's what he removed to drain the oil cooler.
